What: Horizon Air de Havilland Dash 8-400/Alaska Airlines en route from Redding CA to Los Angeles CA Where: Los Angeles When: Nov 8th 2010 Who: 73 passengers
(Another report alleges there were 39 passengers.) Why: On approach to LA, crew members reported that a bird struck the right wing.
The plane landed safely at the airport at about 2 pm Monday. Damage assessment on the fuel tank and the right wing is forthcoming, but initially, it appears to be substantial.

South Yorkshire and Humberside fire and rescue services were there; the pilot was pronounced dead.

What: Interlink Airlines Boeing 737-200 en route from Durban to Pretoria Where: Durban When: Dec 28th 2009 Who: not available Why: While en route, the Interlink flight had a bird strike and had to return to Durban where it made a safe landing. The flight was cancelled.

What: de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver en route from Pitt Meadows to Okanagan Lake Where: Brenda Mines When: May 13, 2012, 6:45 p.m Who: three aboard, three fatalities Why: The plane had taken off from Pitt Meadows airport and was en route back from Okanagan lake when it went down in a wooded area below Highway 97C about seven kilometers west of the Brenda Mines Road intersection. There was a fire at the scene. Witnesses say the plane was headed toward “Peachland” possibly looking for a landing site toward Merritt when it went down.
According to the NTSB, the accident site is about ten minutes out of Kelowna.
A Cormorant helicopter and a Buffalo airplane, the coroner, B.C. Ambulance, Kelowna Fire Department and Kelowna RCMP responded to the scene. The plane caught fire.
Pilot Colin Moyes, 52, and passengers Peter Keate, 81 and Inez Keate, 79 have been identified as the crash victims. The pilot had his future in-laws in the cabin. His wedding would have been June 23. He leaves behind his 11 year old son. Moyes is also survived by his fiancee and her two children. A memorial is scheduled at 2 p.m., May 27, at North Vancouver’s Pinnacle Hotel.

What: Danu /Avanti Air Aerospatiale ATR-42-300 en route from Skien to Bergen Norway Where: Bergen When: Nov 5th 2009 Who: 16 people on board Why: On approach to Flesland Airport, the crew got an unsafe gear indication. Landing was aborted, until the problem was determined to be an indicator issue; at which time, the final pass was made, when it landed safely.

What: Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400 en route from Manchester to Bournemouth Where: Manchester When: Jul 25 2010 Who: 40 passengers Why: While en route, the pilot announced to the passengers they were undergoing a technical problem. That problem worsened, and eventually necessitated shutting down one engine and returning to Manchester. Passengers were provided a flight to Southampton, and a bus to Bournemouth.
