Interior Ministry spokeswoman Malgorzata Woznia announced that “87 families (of survivors) have so far gotten 40,000 zlotys ($13,800; euro10,000) each.”
Ninety-six people, including Poland’s president Lech Kaczynski and his wife leading a delegation of high Polish representatives died on the state flight on the Polish Air Force Tupolev TU-154M. The flight struck trees while attempting to land in dense fog.
On Apr 11th, the flight data recorders were taken to a special lab, opened in the presence of Russian and Polish investigators. Tapes were found but out of the tape mechanism as result of the impact. On Apr 19th, it was reported that the audio contains noise and need additional processing.
