    Virgin AtlanticVirgin Atlantic flight VS-44 made an emergency landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 6th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane was flying to Gatwick Airport, England, when the crew decided to turn back due to a wheel well fire indication.

    The plane landed safely. There were 359 people aboard at the time; all of the remained unhurt.

    What: Air France Boeing 777 en route from Paris to Singapore
    Where: Henri Coanda Airport, Bucharest
    When: Oct 7th 2009
    Who: 307 passengers and 18 crew
    Why: When a passenger suffered a heart attack on the plane, and the flight diverted to Bucharest where he was removed from the plane, the rest of the passengers debarked. It was determined he died of the heart attack. There is no mention if the flight had (or used) an on board a defib machine.

    The flight could not continue because of a technical problem. The other passengers stayed in the terminal or were put up in hotels and rerouted.

    Kish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Iran

    Kish Airlines flight Y9-7404 had to return and make an emergency landing in Abadan, Iran, on August 7th.

    The plane took off for Tehran, Iran, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    NAM Air Plane Returns to Indonesia after Engine Shut Down

    NAM Air flight IN-750 had to return and make an emergency landing at Nabire Airport, Papua, Indonesia, on July 20th.

    The Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A flying to Biak, Indonesia, had to return because the crew had to shut one of its engines down.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    FedEx Plane Lands in Emergency at Nashville

    FedExFedEx flight 1412, on its way from Memphis International Airport to Manchester, New Hampshire, made an emergency landing at Nashville International Airport in Nashville, Tennessee at about 5 a.m. on July 2.

    The incident happened after smoke was noticed in the cockpit of the cargo plane.

    The plane landed without incident. The pilot and the co-pilot were the only people aboard; both of them remained unharmed.

    According to a FedEx spokesperson, the company is working with the authorities to determine the cause of incident.

    Portland-Bound Alaska Airlines Plane Diverts to Eugene Airport

    wings of alaskaAlaska airlines flight 2151 had to make an emergency landing at Eugene Airport, Oregon, on November 17.

    The plane, heading from Seattle to Portland, had to be diverted after the pilot reported a mechanical issue.

    The plane landed safely. There were 52 passengers aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a bus that took passengers to Portland.
