    What: American Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Miami to St. Lucia
    Where: Providenciales airport, Turks and Caicos
    When: February 1, 2010
    Who: 109 passengers
    Why: The crew made an emergency diversion to Providenciales when en route to St. Lucia, they detected a suspicious odor. A 737 is scheduled to pick up the passengers and carry them the rest of the way.

    Air France Jet Diverts to Vienna due to Burning Odor

    Air FranceAir France flight AF-1688 was forced to divert and make an emergency landing in Vienna, Austria, on October 3.

    The Airbus A319-100, en-route from Charles de Gaulle airport, France, to Bucharest Otopeni airport, Romania, had to be diverted after the crew reported a burning odor on-board.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in other flights.

    Thomson Flight Made Emergency Landing in Portugal

    Thomson airwaysA Thomson Airways flight had to make an emergency landing at the Lajes airport in Portugal, at about 4:13 a.m. Lisbon time on August 5.

    The twin-engine aircraft Boeing 787-800 aircraft was on its way from Dominican Republic to Manchester, UK when the crew had to shut down its right hand engine due to an indication of low oil pressure.

    The plane was then diverted towards Lajes airport where it made a safe emergency landing. All 288 passengers remained safe.

    The passengers were provided a replacement aircraft which took them to their destination.

    Mesa Police Department Helicopter Crash Lands in Gilbert

    helicopterA Mesa Police Department helicopter had to make a hard landing in a field near Stapley Drive & Baseline Road in Gilbert, Arizona.

    The incident happened at about 1 a.m. on June 8, when the chopper carrying two police pilots lost engine power and crashed.

    According to Mesa Police Department Sgt. Tony Landato, “They had 10 to 15 seconds from engine failure to impact…. The preliminary information I have is that the pilot did a remarkable job avoiding homes by putting the helicopter down in a field… I’ve been told, luckily, there are no serious injuries.”

    During the impact, the tail of helicopter broke off.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Southern England

    A small plane had to make an emergency landing in a field near Henstridge Airfield in Marnhull, Dorset County, England, on August 27th.

    The TB10 Tobago carrying 4 people including the pilot had to be landed after its engine caught fire.

    All 4 people onboard escaped safely.
