British Airways flight BAW-82GD had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on September 6th.
The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Athens, Greece, but had to return shortly afterwards due to problems with one of the engines.
The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained safe.
Air France flight AF-524 had to return and make an emergency landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, on November 25th.
The plane took off for Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, but had to turn back due to a hydraulic failure.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
United Airlines flight UA-1098 had to return and make an emergency landing in Houston, Texas, on May 20th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for San Jose, Costa Rica, but had to turn back after the crew noticed a hydraulic problem.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
A US Airways express flight made an emergency landing at Burlington International Airport, Vermont, on March 26.
The plane was heading from Philadelphia to Montreal when the pilot reported a windshield crack and requested an emergency landing. According to Burlington airport operations foreman Doug Wood, “The crack was reportedly getting larger and working its way down the windshield, so the pilots elected to get the plane on the ground as soon as possible and have it inspected before they did lose the windshield.”
The plane landed uneventfully and all 50 passengers aboard remained safe.
The airline said passengers will be transported to Montreal via bus.

What: Swiss Airbus A340-300 en route from Miami to Zurich
Where: Atlantic Ocean

Why: Three/fourths of an hour out of Shannon, the flight developed various electrical problems with the circuit breakers affecting cabin lighting and the inflight entertainment system. With cabin lighting off, they diverted to Shannon, where the flight made a safe landing.
Passengers were provided alternative flights, albeit not on several different planes.
Jet2.com flight LS-189 had to return and make an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport, Glasgow, Scotland, on July 7th.
The Boeing 737-800 was en-route to Palma Mallorca, Spain, when the crew reported pitch control problem, prompting the plane to return.
The plane landed uneventfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.
The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

What: Thomson Airways Boeing 767-300 en route from Cancun (Mexico) to Bristol,EN (UK),

Why: On Sept 16, the same plane had had another hard landing causing damage.
On this flight, the plane accelerated for reasons unknown during a hard landing on arrival at Bristol. Unspecified damages occurred, no injuries reported.
