An AeroMexico flight made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on June 29.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, heading from Mexico City to Paris Charles De Gaulle airport in France, had to be diverted after a fire alarm sounded in cargo hold.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 193 people aboard remained unharmed.
A Columbus police helicopter had to make an emergency landing in a parking lot in Columbus, Ohio, around midnight on April 30.
Authorities said the helicopter’s pilot decided to land in emergency after a warning light went on.
The plane safely landed near a shopping plaza in west Columbus. No one was injured.
The helicopter was able to return to the police heliport early morning.
Cityjet flight WX-281 made an emergency landing at London Southend Airport, England, on July 10th.
The plane, heading from London City Airport, England, to Florence, Italy, was diverted after the crew received an engine fire indication.
The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.
Air India flight AI 997 had to make an emergency landing in Mumbai, India, on March 6.
The plane, carrying more than 100 passengers, was en-route from Karippur International Airport in Kerala, India, to Sharjah, UAE, when one of its engines caught fire with a loud explosion.
The pilot immediately diverted the plane to Mumbai, where it made an uneventful emergency landing. No one was injured.
The airline arranged another aircraft which took the passengers to their destination.
A Sirius Aero plane made an emergency landing in Ust-Kut, Russia, on September 7th.
The plane was flying from Krasnoyarsk, Russia, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.
The plane landed safely. All forty-six passengers and five crew members remained unharmed.
Allegiant Air flight 758 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Jacksonville International Airport, Florida, on March 2nd.
Authorities said the plane, heading from Orlando Sanford International Airport, Florida, to Indianapolis International Airport, Indiana, was diverted due to a pressurization problem.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 155 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.
The airline said in a statement, “A replacement aircraft will be sent to JAX from SFB and is scheduled to depart JAX at 12:40 p.m. and arrive in IND at 2:40 p.m. Passengers will be receiving a refund for the flight segment, food at the gate, the option to change their flight to another one in the Allegiant network and $200 vouchers for future travel on Allegiant.”
Delta Airlines flight 2116 had to return and make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, shortly after 9:30 a.m. on January 13.
The Boeing 757 took off for Minneapolis at about 8:30 a.m. but had to turn back shortly afterwards due to a mechanical issue.
The plane landed safely after shedding off extra fuel. All 146 passengers and 6 crew members aboard remained unharmed.
The airline later said in a statement, “The crew of Delta flight 2116 from Los Angeles to Minneapolis/St. Paul followed procedures to return to Los Angeles International after a potential systems issue was observed. The aircraft landed safely without incident and taxied to the gate under its own power. Delta is currently working to accommodate customers while technicians examine the aircraft. Safety is always Delta’s top priority and apologizes to customers for the inconvenience.”
