    Parma Plane Crash Kills World War II Veteran

    UntitledA small aircraft crashed at an air strip off Route 104 and near West Ridge Road in Parma, New York, on July 5.

    The pilot, Norman Hasman, 88, who was a World War II veteran and the only person aboard, was killed in the crash. Investigators said that Norman’s plane swerved off the air strip and flipped upside down when he was practicing ‘touch and go’ landing exercises.

    “The wind is gusting today and it was a very light plane and that may have something to do with it. Flying any aircraft has its hazards and it takes a particular skill,” said Sgt. Robert Murphy of the Monroe County Sheriff Department.

    He further said, “He was a very experienced flier. He was a veteran of World War II. He had been shot down twice during in wartime. He was a prisoner of war for several years. He loved flying despite his advanced age.”

    The FAA is investigating the cause of crash.

    Small Plane Crashed in Colombia; 10 Killed

    A small plane crashed and bursted into flames near the airport of Mariquita municipality in Tolima department of Colombia, on December 3.

    The plane, belonging to a Colombian company Nacional de Aviacion, was heading from Bogota to Bahia Solano when it went down. According to Nelson Quinonez, Tolima`s police director, the pilot sought permission for an emergency landing shortly before the crash.

    All 10 people aboard the plane, including 2 crew members and 5 children, were killed in the crash.

    The accident is under investigation.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands Near Hayward Executive Airport

    Small planeA small plane crash landed on the Skywest Golf Course in Hayward, California, on the afternoon of February 15.

    According to Hayward Fire Capt. Don Nichelson, the plane departed from Hayward Executive Airport but had to crash-land shortly afterwards, due to power loss.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained uninjured.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Philippines Cargo Crash


    What: Pacific East Air Cargo/UPS / ATMA Atyra Transport Antonov AN-12BP en route from Mactan to Angeles Philippines
    Where: SE of Clark airport, Pampanga province, northern Philippines
    When: Apr 21 2010
    Who: 6 crew
    Why: Flying low over Mexico village in the Philippines, the cargo plane crashed south east of the base. The crash fragmented the plane, and it burst into flames. Three Russian crew members were hospitalized, 3 other crew members are reported missing. The pilot, who survived, was quoted saying that the plane encountered electric circuit trouble about an hour into the flight, and a fire that broke out forced him to make an emergency landing on the open field.

    The Interisland Airlines flight was chartered on behalf of UPS.

    American Eagle Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Omaha

    An American Eagle flight had to return for an emergency landing in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 24th.

    The plane took off for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, but had to turn back after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    A small plane made an emergency landing in Bellingham Bay, Washington, on October 5th.

    The single-engine plane was attempting to land at the Bellingham International Airport when its engine failed.

    The plane landed in approximately 3 to 4 feet of water.
