    Emergency Slide Unit Fell Off Midair; Thomas Cook Flight Makes Emergency Landing

    Thomas CookThomas Cook flight TCX1638 had to return and make an emergency landing at Gatwick airport in West Sussex, UK, on October 31.

    The Boeing 757-3CQ departed from the airport at around 9 a.m. and was heading to Hurghada, Egypt, when its emergency slide unit fell off. The pilot was then instructed to turn back and land at Gatwick.

    The flight landed safely and all 237 passengers remained unharmed. The passengers were shifted to another flight.

    It is believed that the emergency slide fell near the border of Kent and East Sussex. The local police were informed and they sent search teams to spot the unit.

    Thomas Cook and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are investigating.

    Singapore Airlines bomb threat

    What: Singapore Airlines B773 en route from Moscow to Singapore
    Where: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport
    When: Oct 3 2010, midnight
    Who: 262 passengers
    Why: The flight was en route when Moscow police contacted the pilots and told them there was a possible bomb on board.

    Delhi, the nearest airport, refused to allow them to land due to the Commonwealth Games, but they were permitted to divert to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport where they made a safe landing around midnight.

    Passengers disembarked, and the plane was isolated and the baggage searched.

    Fumes in Cockpit Force KLM’s Flight to Land in Emergency

    KLMA KLM Airline Boeing 737 had to make an emergency landing at Norwich International Airport, Norfolk, United Kingdom, at about 2:37 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.

    A KLM spokesperson confirmed that the plane en route from Manchester to Amsterdam landed in emergency after fumes were discovered in the cockpit.

    Full emergency protocol was deployed at the airport when the plane carrying 114 passengers touched down. All the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.

    The aircraft was taken for examination and repair.

    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Problems

    British Airways flight BAW-82GD had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on September 6th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Athens, Greece, but had to return shortly afterwards due to problems with one of the engines.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    British Airways Plane Diverts to Germany due to Fumes in Cabin

    British airwaysBritish Airways flight BA-143 diverted and made an emergency landing at the runway of Frankfurt Airport, Germany, on September 4.

    The Boeing 777-200, flying from Heathrow Airport, England, to Dehli, India, had to be diverted after the crew noticed fumes in cabin.

    The plane landed safely and no injuries were reported.

    The incident was being investigated.

    U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Pilot Killed in F-16 Crash

    A U.S. Air Force F-16 plane crashed in Nevada, on April 4th.

    The plane was performing a routine aerial demonstration training flight when it crashed over Nevada Test and Training Range.

    Thunderbirds pilot Major Stephen Del Bagno died in the crash.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
