What: Cessna 172 registered to an El Cajon flight school en route from Gillespie Field in El Cajon to Torrance.
Where: Close to a hwy overpass a half-mile from the Oceanside runway Oceanside Municipal Airport east of Interstate 5 in San Diego County.
When: January 24, 2009
Who: 24-year-old pilot Amandeep Singh and an 18-year-old passenger Harshdeep Multani . Both have Indian passports.
Why: The official word is that the plane developed mechanical trouble and was in the process of an emergency landing. On one account, the plane clipped a power line on approach to the runway and crashed. Another account says the plane struck a wooden utility pole. The plane also sheared off the valve to a sewage pipe, spewubg a geyser 25,000 gallons of raw sewage. The airport was closed. It took 45 minutes to extricate the pilot from the wreckage as sewage rained down on them. Decontamination at the scene was comprised of stripping down to their shorts and being hosed down on site.
A salvage crew removed the wereckage to Pearblossom in Los Angeles County,
A Cessna 414 crashed into a farm field near Bloomington airport in Illinois, on April 6.
The plane took off from Indianapolis at around 11 p.m. CT, however at 12:15 a.m., Peoria air traffic control informed the Central Illinois Regional Airport that the aircraft’s flight had not been completed.
Multiple search teams were then launched which spotted the plane’s wreckage near McLean County Road 2100 East and Rt. 9.
All seven people aboard were killed in the crash. The deceased include Illinois State University’s associate head coach Torrey Ward and athletic department’s deputy director for external relations Aaron Leetch.
The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.
What: Cessna 172N Skyhawk en route from Buchannan Field Airport

Why: Apparently Ray Pirro who was not a pilot snuck into Buchanan Field and stole the Cessna Skyhawk that took his life. Pirro had no pilots license, was covered in tattoos, was recently released from prison, and apparently just took the plane to take a joy ride. He flew into power lines and smashed up by Barstow Avenue. Owner Felix J Boston is a retired lieutenant colonel. He had left the plane in Buchanan Field Airport and was surprised to find someone had taken it. He called the plane “his baby” and regrets its loss.
The thief had covered the plane’s registration numbers and stopped off at a Stockton Walmart for junk food. (The crash site was strewn with Cheese whiz.) There was still gas in the plane, so it did not run out of gas, but striking the power lines may have been Pirro’s downfall.

What: Cessna 402B en route from Montichiari to Rome
Where: Ciampino, Rome, Italy

Why: In Rome, a Cessna has crashed in a car depot near Ciampino airport. Thirty cars sequestered by police were damaged.
The two aboard were killed on impact. They had been intending to land at Urbe airport in Rome but impacted at 167 Via Fioranello. Alfredo Segariol and Antonio Salvoldi, 39, Brescia were in the air performing a photographic surveys for the Rossi company. After impact, the Cessna caught fire; and the fire spread to gut thirty cars at the depot. The plume of smoke was visible across the city.
It is not yet known if the plane had mechanical trouble or ran out of fuel.
A 1964 Cessna 172 crashed in the driveway of a home in the 400 block of Lincoln Lake Avenue SE in Lowell, Michigan, at around 5:45 p.m. on January 19.
The plane was scheduled to land at the Lowell City Airport when it hit trees and crashed in front of a residence.
The pilot, a 40-year-old man hailing from Grand Rapids, was taken to hospital with only minor injuries. Authorities said he was taking flight training since April 2014 and was attempting a solo landing after flying for some time with his instructor.
No one on the ground was injured.
The incident is under investigation.
What: 1979 single-engine Cessna was registered to Rohan Aviation of Lantana and flown by a student pilot from Lantana Airport en route to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
Airline Transport Professional Piper registered to Harry Duckworth en route from Ocala to Pompano Beach

Where: 2.7 miles southwest of Holiday Park (six miles northwest of Pompano Beach and about two miles into the Everglades)
When: both planes departed Saturday (12/06) afternoon
Who: Cessna-2 passengers Piper-1 person on board. The alleged victims include flight instructor Stuart Brown, and pilot Bryan Sax.
Why: The planes collided west of U.S. 27 and south of Alligator Alley in the Everglades. No survivors. The NTSB is investigating. Only one of the flights had a flight plan. The exact number of individuals in the student flight is under dispute. The wreckage is located in an area accessible by airboat.
