    Small Plane Crash-Lands in Stafford County; Pilot Injured

    A small plane crash-landed near Interstate 95 in Stafford County, Virginia, on June 6th.

    The state police said in a statement, “A single-seat, experimental aircraft was conducting a high-speed taxi on the runway of the Stafford Regional Airport, when the aircraft unintentionally lifted off the runway…The aircraft cleared the Centreport Parkway before crash-landing into an embankment alongside the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 at the 137 mile marker.”

    The pilot Roberta A. Boucher, 62, was seriously injured in the incident. She taken to Mary Washington Hospital.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Pilot Injured after Medical Helicopter Crash-Landed in Tennessee

    A medical helicopter crash-landed in Mountain City, Tennessee, on June 3rd.

    The incident happened after the aircraft, belonging to Wellmont Health System and PHI Air Medical, was dispatched to pick up a car crash victim.

    According to a statement released by Wellmont Health System and PHI Air Medical, “Soon after liftoff, the pilot, an employee of PHI Air Medical, which owns and operates the aircraft, identified a mechanical condition that required immediate landing. He executed emergency procedures to bring the aircraft to the ground, limiting risk to the passengers and damage to the aircraft.”

    The pilot was injured in the incident. He was taken to hospital.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Avianca Airlines Flight Encounters Severe Turbulence; 23 Injured

    AviancaAvianca Airlines flight AV-965 had to make an emergency landing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 4th.

    The Airbus A330-200 aircraft, flying from Lima, Peru, ran into severe turbulence that injured 23 people on-board.

    The plane continued for a safe landing in Buenos Aires, where the injured were given medical aid. Authorities confirmed that 10 people were shifted to hospital for further treatment.

    1 Killed, 3 Injured as Helicopter Crashes in Indonesia

    A Bell 206 helicopter crashed in Paniai district of Papua Province, Indonesia, on June 4th.

    The aircraft went down when it was transporting three passengers from Nabire to a mining site in Degewo.

    The pilot was killed in the crash while the passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Spokesperson of Indonesia’s national police Agus Rianto said, “We have evacuated the passengers to the nearby city of Nabire so they could get medical treatment.”

    All Nippon Airways flight NH-561 had to return and make an emergency landing at Haneda Airport, Ota, Tokyo, Japan, on May 27th.

    The Boeing 737-800 en-route to Kochi, Japan, had to return shortly after the crew detected problems with its cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. Nine passengers and the flight attendant were transported to a hospital while the others were treated at the airport.

    The aircraft sustained significant damage to the overhead cabin storage bins.

    Prince Hospitalized after Emergency Landing at Quad City International Airport

    Legendary artist Prince was rushed to hospital after making an emergency landing at Quad City International Airport, Moline, Illinois, on April 15th.

    It is believed that the Hall of Fame recording artist had been suffering from flu for several weeks. His condition worsened when he was flying back in his private plane after a show in Atlanta.

    He was released from the hospital after three hours and is recovering.

    The commuter airplane, owned by Sunrise Aviation based in Wrangell, Alaska, was carrying four people when it went down near Angoon village.

    Authorities said the plane went down near Martinsville Highway and Long Circle Road, shortly before 5 p.m.

    The 1974 Grumman Lynx plane was flying from Dallas when it ran out of fuel and landed nose down, around 1 mile from the airport.

    The plane was carrying two people at the time, including the pilot Richard Abila, 40, and his son Aaron Abila, 17. Both of them were injured and were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

    Authorities said the RV-8A plane went down between South Lake Hospital and Skyridge Valley subdivision.

    The plane was carrying two people at the time; both of them were killed in the crash. Their identities have not yet been released.

    Helicopter Crashes into Pearl Harbor; 1 Critically Injured

    A Bell 206 helicopter crashed and sunk near the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, on February 18.

    The private helicopter went down while it was carrying five people, including the pilot and a family of four visiting from Canada.

    All five occupants of the aircraft survived the crash. However, one of them – a 16-year-old boy- was trapped underwater and had to be extricated from his seat. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

    Authorities believe the helicopter belongs to tour operator Genesis Aviation.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the cause of crash.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

    American Airlines flight 564 made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on February 11th.

    Authorities said the plane, heading from San Jose, California, to Phoenix, Arizona, was diverted due to a mechanical issue.

    The plane, carrying 125 passengers and 5 crew members, landed uneventfully.

    Eight people, including seven passengers and one crew member, reported respiratory irritation and were evaluated by paramedics. Authorities said one of them was later taken to hospital.
