    What: Air Comet Airbus A330-200 en route from Madrid Spain to Buenos Aires Argentina
    Where: Atlantic Ocean
    When: Nov 6th 2009
    Who: 270 passengers
    Why: While en route to Argentina, Brazilian Authorities denied overflight permission to Air Comet. The flight had to return to Madrid. Although the plane had the essential paperwork, . Air Comet owes substantial debt (air taxes) to the Brazilian government.

    UK Plane/Tractor Crash

    What: two-seater de Havilland Chipmunk airplane with dual controls.
    Where: Seething airfield, near Loddon, UK
    When: Wednesday afternoon
    Who: Media boss Ian Davies, 49 and passenger Stephen Shutt, 51. Tractor driver, Andrew Hill, was treated for shock.
    Why: The plane crashed into a tractor in Norfolk. Ian Davis died on impact, Shutt taken to hospital.

    Mexican Interior Minister Juan Camilo Mourino Killed in Lear Crash


    What: Lear jet en route from the north-returning from an event in the city of San Luis Potosi, central city of San Luis Potosi to Mexico City
    Where: in the street street in an upscale business district in Mexico City
    When: Tuesday Nov 4 during rush hour
    Who: Eight people killed , including Mexican Interior Minister Juan Camilo Mourino, former Deputy Attorney General Josi Luis Santiago Vasconcelos and Miguel Monterubio Cubas, the director of social communication. Forty people on the ground were injured.
    Why: The vice president of the national civil aviation rescue committee is quoted as saying, “It could have been anything, from mechanical failure to sabotage.” It appeared that something happened to the plane in the air before the plane nosedived straight into the ground and set two dozen cars on fire in the posh Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood.

    Eight are confirmed dead. 40 have been hospitalized. 1800 locals were evacuated. Sabotage has not been ruled out, because Jose Luis Santiago Vasconcelos, the deputy attorney general was a key player for years in Mexico’s army-led war on drug cartels. Mourino was 37, married with three children, and a rising star in Mexican politics.

    Couple from Kansas Dies in Missouri Plane Crash

    A small plane crashed in a field near Branson West Airport, Missouri, on December 17th.

    The Incident happened when the Piper Cherokee plane was carrying two people.

    Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash. They were identified as the pilot Keith M. Curtis, 52, and Dawn Curtis, 45, both from of Gardner, Kansas.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    Medical Helicopter Crashes in Ohio; 3 Dead

    An air ambulance helicopter crashed in Vinton County, Ohio, on January 29th.

    The incident happened when the Bell 407 helicopter was heading from Grove City to Pomeroy, Ohio, to pick up a patient.

    There were three people aboard at the time, including the pilot, Jennifer L. Topper, 34, of Sunbury, Ohio, and nurses, Rachel L. Cunningham, 33, of Galloway, Ohio, and Bradley J. Haynes, 48, of London, Ohio. All of them were killed in the crash.

    9 Killed as Sightseeing Plane Crashes in Alaska

    A sightseeing plane crashed into a cliff near Ketchikan, Alaska, on June 25.

    The DeHavilland DHC-3T Otter aircraft was on a shore excursion from a Holland America Line cruise ship when it went down.

    Nine people were killed in the crash, including the pilot Bryan Krill, 64, of Hope, Idaho and 8 passengers.

    The deceased passengers had left Seattle on June 20 for a 7-day round trip on MS Westerdam cruise ship. They were identified as Hal Cheney, 71, of Lodi, California, Mary Doucette, 59, of Lodi, California, Glenda Cambiaso, 31, of North Potomac, Maryland, Hugo Cambiaso, 65, of North Potomac, Maryland, June Kranenburg, 73, of Medford, Oregon, Leonard Kranenburg, 63, of Medford, Oregon, Margie Apodaca, 63, of Sparks, Nevada and Raymond Apodaca, 70, of Sparks, Nevada.

    The cause of crash is under investigation.
