Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Brussels

Lufthansa flight LH-2286 had to make an emergency landing in Brussels, Belgium, on February 7th.

The Airbus A319-100 plane was flying from Munich, Germany, when the crew reported a strong oil smell on-board which caused headache, eye irritations, and dizziness.

The plane continued for a safe landing. The entire crew was taken to hospital.

Atlas Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Belgium

Atlas Air flight LY-804 had to return and make an emergency landing in Liege, Belgium, on February 7th.

The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Tel Aviv, Israel, but had to return shortly afterwards due to indication of an engine compressor stall.

The plane landed safely. All 6 crew members aboard remained unharmed.

TUIfly Belgium Flight Diverts to Brussels With Cracked Windshield

TUIfly Belgium flight TB-6793 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Brussels, Belgium, on January 21st.

The Embraer ERJ-190 plane heading from Liege, Belgium, to Alicante, Spain, was diverted due to a cracked windshield.

The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

ASL Airlines Belgium Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Belgium

ASL Airlines Belgium flight 3V-76B had to make an emergency landing in Liege, Belgium, on January 12th.

The plane flying from Bologna, Italy, was on approach to Liege when the crew aborted approach reporting an unsafe gear indication.

The crew subsequently worked the checklists and landed uneventfully.

All passengers and crew members remained safe.

Hop Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Brussels

hopHop Airlines flight A5-4318 had to make an emergency landing in Brussels, Belgium, on November 28th.

The plane was flying from Lyon, France, when it experienced issues with the flaps.

The plane landed uneventfully at a higher than normal speed. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Ryanair Flight Diverts to Brussels Airport

The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from London Stansted Airport, England, to Paphos, Cyprus, was diverted due to a wheel well fire indication.

The plane landed safely Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

Saudi Arabian Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke in Cabin

Saudi Arabian AirlinesSaudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-116 made an emergency landing in Brussels, Belgium, on June 30th.

The Boeing 777-300 plane, en-route from London, United Kingdom, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was diverted after the crew reported smoke in the cabin.

Brussels Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Belgium

BrusselsBrussels Airlines flight SN-3667 made an emergency landing in Brussels, Belgium, on May 9th.

The plane, heading from Brussels, Belgium, to Toulouse, France, had to turn back after the crew reported a hydraulic leak.

The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

The Boeing 787-800, en-route to Cancun, Mexico, had to return shortly after the crew reported some problem with its gear. It later turned out that there was a flap retraction issue.

The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

Icelandair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Brussels

Bird-Hit Brussels Airlines Plane Returns to Brussels

Thomas Cook flight FQ-816 had to return and make an emergency landing in Brussels, Belgium, on February 7th.

The Airbus A319-100 plane, operated by Brussels Airlines, took off for Marrakech, Morocco, but had to return shortly afterwards after one of its engines ingested a bird.

The plane landed uneventfully. All 140 passengers remained safe.

The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

Brussels Airlines Plane Returns to Belgium due to Engine Issue

BrusselsBrussels Airlines flight SN-3201 had to return and make an emergency landing at Brussels Airport, Zaventem, Belgium, on November 4.

The Airbus A319-100, en-route to Venice, Italy, had to return due to some issue with one of its engines. The crew had to shut the engine down mid-air.

The plane landed safely.

All 124 people aboard remained safe.

London-Bound Kuwait Airways Flight Made Emergency Landing at Brussels

Kuwait airwaysA Kuwait Airways Airbus 300, en route to London from Kuwait, made an emergency landing at Brussels airport, Belgium, on July 28.

The pilot decided to make an emergency landing after discovering smoke in the cockpit, according to airport spokeswoman Florence Muls.

The plane landed safely and all 200 passengers aboard remained unhurt.

The aircraft was taken for examination.

Helicopter Crashed Near the Cerfontaine Airfield in Belgium; 1 Killed, 1 Injured

helicopterA helicopter crashed near the Cerfontaine airfield, in the province of Namur in southwestern Belgium, at around 5:00 p.m. on June 13.

One of the two people aboard died and the other one suffered multiple serious injuries.

According to the local rescue center, firefighters and paramedics from close by town arrived on the location.

It is believed that the accident happened during an annual test being carried out under the supervision of an experienced pilot.

Eleven Die in Belgium Plane Crash


A Paraclub Namur Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 Turbo Porter out of Namur-Suarlée Airport crashed in Belgium in a field. Ten sky divers and a pilot were aboard when the plane lost height. No one survived.

Investigators found that three of the skydivers had open chutes and the wing of the plane was broken off.

Apparently the pilot lost control of the plane. A witness said a wing was torn from the plane, then the crash made a lot of noise. Emergency responders arrived to find the plane on fire 250 meters from Wohnhäusern der Ortschaft Marchovelette, a village and a few of the parachutists were alive.

The plane had been in use since November 1969.

Family Lost in Brussels Cessna Crash


Traffic was locked down at Brussels South Charleroi airport.

On Feb 9, 2013 at ten a.mm, a privately owned Cessna P210N Pressurized Centurion en route from Brussels to Lyon was taking off from Brussels South Charleroi Airport in Belgium in freezing fog when it ran into trouble.

The plane crashed beside the runway. A family of five, including three children, were aboard: a grandfather, his daughter, her three children age seven, six and two.

Police and a special crisis unit arrived on the scene.

Walloon Prime Minister Rudy Demotte (PS) and federal Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo (PS) offered condolences to the families of the victims.

Fighter Jet Bird Strike in Belgium


What: Belgian Air Force General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon en route from Kleine-Brogel air base
Where: Belgium
When: August 17, 2012, 3:01 p.m
Who: no fatalities
Why: About a mile from the Kleine- Brogel air base, the pilot of an F-16 fighter jet ejected after the jet suffered a bird strike. The accident occurred near the town of Peer. The pilot who has 500 hours was on a training flight, and after he ejected, ended up in a tree.

The plane has been written off as damaged beyond repair. Residents of Peer were told to keep their windows and doors closed because the plane’s tank contained “hydrazine,” a flammable and toxic. News reports now say that the tank was recovered intact.

Ryanair Diverts to Brussels

What: Ryanair Boeing 737-800 en route from Eindhoven to Ibiza
Where: Paris
When: May 15th 2012
Why: The flight was en route over Paris when a problem developed, and the crew diverted to Brussels where they made a safe landing at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA).

The plane will be examined to determine the nature of the problem. (We an only assume the rocking motion passengers complained of was not turbulence.)

What: Southern Air Transport Boeing 747-200 freighter en route from Charleston,SC to Liege Belgium
Where: Liege
When: Dec 11th 2011
Who: 5 crew
Why: On approach to Liege, the pilots encountered issues with the hydraulic systems.

The flight made a safe landing in Liege.

After allowing the Southern Air Transport flight to land, the Liege airport shut down, forcing in bound traffic to divert to other airports.

Where: Antwerp
When: July 20 2011
Why: On takeoff out of Antwerp the flight developed complications.

The crew made an emergency landing, due to a cargo fire alarm, and the flight
was cancelled.

What: Spanair Airbus A320-200 en route from Barcelona to Stockholm
Where: Belgium
When: May 20th 2011
Why: While over Belgium, radio communication was disrupted. (This occurred during the handover to Dutch ATC.)

A Dutch escort was sent (2 F-16s) to intercept.

The Spanair pilots re-established contact, and were escorted into German airspace. The plane landed on schedule in Stockholm.

Why: On approach to landing in Charleroi, the plane developed engine vibrations.

The flight made a safe landing. No report has been released regarding the cause of the engine vibration.
