Elderly Passenger Forced Emergency Landing in Sydney

Australia by AirA small four-seater Beechcraft Duchess plane had to make an emergency landing in a paddock in Sydney, Australia, on August 25, due to odd behaviour of an 82-year-old man on board.

The plane was chartered by the old man for a business trip from Sydney suburb of Bankstown to Cowra. According to the Acting Inspector Gareth Smith, the man started acting erratically mid-air. “The pilot said that he started grabbing the controls, turning off fuel lines, and turning buttons randomly on and off,” he said.

The 23-year-old pilot had to fight and restrain the elderly passenger to control the plane for emergency landing. The old man sustained head and facial injuries in the process and was transported to hospital.

The charter company Australia by Air later said in a statement, “The pilot displayed excellent airmanship and skill during the landing, and we thank him for his professionalism.”

Police are investigating the incident.

Indiana Teen Attempting to Fly Around the World Dies in Plane Crash

The small plane of a Pakistani-origin Indiana teenager went down shortly after leaving Pago Pago in American Samoa for Honolulu, over the Pacific Ocean on July 22.

Haris Suleman, 17 and his father Babar Suleman, were aboard the plane when it crashed. The Sulemans left Indiana on June 19 in a bid to make a world trip in 30 days to set the record for the fastest circumnavigation around the world in a single-engine airplane with the youngest pilot in command. The trip was also to raise money for the Citizens Foundation, a nonprofit that builds schools in Pakistan. They were scheduled to stops in England, Egypt and Pakistan and return home on July 30.

Annie Hayat, a family spokesperson, said the body of Haris Suleman had been recovered, but crews were still looking for his father. Haris’ sister Hiba Suleman said that the plane took off at about 9:50 p.m. and the air traffic controller saw the plane going down at 10:15. “With a trip like this, there’s always a risk, and they did prepare for that risk,” she said.

Babar Suleman was an experienced pilot while Haris recently received his license in June this year.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor in Los Angeles said the single-engine Hawker Beechcraft plane crashed into the ocean under unknown circumstances. The tail number provided by the FAA shows the plane is registered to the address of Babar Suleman in Plainfield, Indiana, west of Indianapolis.

The NTSB is investigating the cause of crash.

Those who survived the crash include: Sebastián Vivona, Santiago Villamil, Paula Silvana Buery and Ignacio Javier Losa.

The plane was owned by Argentine textile businessman Federico Bonomi but he was not on board.

According to Uruguayan Navy spokesman Gastón Jaunsolo, the accident happened due to a fault in the plane and the passengers raised the alarm after they discovered the malfunction.

Beech Down in Fallon Nevada

On July 10, 2013 at about 4:45 a.m., a Beech A36 Bonanza with four aboard took off from Fallon Municipal airport en route to Dixie Valley.

Pilot Dan Urquhart force-landed in the desert a couple hundred yards from Fallon Municipal Airport near the intersection of Indian Lakes Road and Enterprise Way.

Two injured parties were flown by Care Flight medical helicopter in stable condition, and one injured party driven to to Banner Churchill Community Hospital and one other hospital.

Damage to the plane has not yet been assessed.

Wheeling Plane Misses Apts

A TennAir LLC Beechcraft Super King Air 200 #N92JR out of Clarksville TN developed a problem, and diverted to Wolf Road, just shy of flying into the Foxboro apartments.

At 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the plane stopped half on the street, barred from hitting the apartment complex by a stand of trees. A couple of eleven year olds witnessed the force landing and ran into their apartments in anticipation of an explosion that didn’t happen. They did get interviewed about the accident.

The pilot had trouble with the plane and managed to get on the ground without injuring any one.

He survived, although not quite at the airport in Wheeling Illinois. THe extent of damage to the plane was not released.

Mexico Crash Kills Six Including State Officials

The Mexican Attorney General’s Beechcraft 300 Super King Air took off from MMZC Aeropuerto Internacional de Zacatecas (Calera) to serve an arrest warrant on members of a drug cartel but this party never achieved their objective.

Presumably due to a mechanical failure, the plane lost altitude–for no apparent reason–and crashed five minutes after takeoff and fifteen kilometers from the airport in farmland.

The plane had been scheduled to take off the night before, but mechanical problems delayed the flight.

The six aboard–including a federal prosecutor and two federal ministerial police–died on impact at Noria de los Gringos, Zacatecas. The plane smashed up, and caught fire in the grassy field.

Law enforcement arrived quickly to secure the scene but it was too late for the passengers.

List of casualties

  • Federal Ministry Púplico: Antonio Alvarez Mota
  • Federal Ministerial Agents: Francisco Leonardo Child and Martin Flores Ricardo Benitez
  • Pilot: Flowers Millan (Last)
  • Copilot: Bravo García (Last)
  • Mechanical: Miguel Angel Guerrero CollierFederal Ministry Púplico: Antonio Alvarez Mota

The cause of the crash in Zacatecas is under investigation.

South Bend Hawker Crash Update

A news agency has reported about the clean up of the plane crash in South Bend on March 13, 2013.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has observed the scene and is part of the team assessing the damage. NTSB said that the clean-up process generally “falls on the source that caused the contamination. Since the damage came from that private jet, its owner and/or insurance company would be responsible.”

Firemen who are working the scene will be paid by the South Bend Fire Dept, but the insurance company will probably repay the SBFD.

Insurance companies are also key in providing compensation to families, especially when there is a traceable failure.

The two aboard the flight, Wes Caves and Steve Davis were ejected from the plane and were found inside one of the houses that was damaged in the crash. Caves owned 7700 ENTERPRISES OF MONTANA LLC which is the plane’s owner of record.

The cause of the HAWKER BEECHCRAFT CORP Premier jet #N26DK crash has not yet been determined.

The FAA report says only that the…AIRCRAFT CRASHED OFF THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY INTO A RESIDENTIAL AREA, THERE WERE 4 PERSONS ON BOARD, 2 WERE FATALLY INJURED, 2 SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES, DAMAGE: DESTROYED, SOUTH BEND, IN
