    7 Killed in Bloomington Plane Crash

    A Cessna 414 crashed into a farm field near Bloomington airport in Illinois, on April 6.

    The plane took off from Indianapolis at around 11 p.m. CT, however at 12:15 a.m., Peoria air traffic control informed the Central Illinois Regional Airport that the aircraft’s flight had not been completed.

    Multiple search teams were then launched which spotted the plane’s wreckage near McLean County Road 2100 East and Rt. 9.

    All seven people aboard were killed in the crash. The deceased include Illinois State University’s associate head coach Torrey Ward and athletic department’s deputy director for external relations Aaron Leetch.

    The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.

    Pilot Walks Away from Cessna Crash in Florida Wood

    Where: near Spruce Creek Airport, Daytona Beach
    When: Jan 25, 2012
    Who: pilot
    Why: Just after taking off from Spruce Creek Airport on a test-flight to check his rebuilt engine, the rebuilt engine of pilot James Clarry’s Cessna quit. Eight minutes after takeoff, the plane nosedived and flipped near Port Orange at North Spruce Creek Circle and Tomoka Farms Road.

    Clarry came out of it with minor injuries. No one else was aboard.

    Volusa emergency services responded to the scene of the accident.

    Clarry landed in the woods.

    Plane Crash in Ontario

    What: Lake LA-250 Renegade
    Where: South of Pickle Lake Airport CYPL, Ontario
    When: Oct 16, 2012
    Who: 4 aboard, 3 fatalities
    Why: A plane on a ferry flight to new owners landing at Pickle Lake Airport and crashed three kilometers past the end of the runway in a wooded area.

    At two a.m. a search for the plane was initiated, after a beacon went off. A 424 Squadron parachute team dispatched from a C130 Hercules Trenton, Ont.

    Three individuals died at the scene. A fourth has been hospitalized.in Winnipeg.

    Ohio Plane Crash Kills 4 University Students

    plane fireA single-engine Cessna 172R airplane crashed and caught fire in suburban Richmond Heights around Cleveland, Ohio, at about 10 p.m. on August 25.

    The accident happened shortly after the plane took off from Cuyahoga County Regional Airport with 4 students of Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University on-board. A spokesman for the NTSB, Peter Knudson, said that the plane was apparently coming back to the airport when it crashed.

    All 4 people aboard were killed in the accident. The victims were identified as Lucas Marcelli, 20, of Massillon, Ohio; Abraham Pishevar, 18, of Rockville, Maryland; John Hill, 18, of St. Simons, Georgia, and the pilot, William Felten, 20, of Saginaw, Michigan.

    According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol official, the plane was rented for 4 hours by Felten.

    The cause of crash is under investigation.

    Spanish Tourists Die on Tourist Flight

    On May 24, 2013, a privately owned Cessna 172 had just taken off from Son Bonet de Marratxi airfield, failed to gain altitude and crashed in a field.

    There were three passengers from Spain aboard–22 and 26 year old men and a 36 year old woman–and the pilot; only the 22 year old Argentinean pilot survived. The pilot was badly injured.

    The plane normally offered tourists flights around the Balearic Islands.

    The accident is under investigation

    Crashed Cessna Grazed Med-Evac Chopper

    What: Cessna 172H
    Where: Staunton, Virginia
    When: Dec 31, 2010, 2 pm
    Who: 2 fatalities, 2 aboard.
    Why: As the privately owned Cessna was departing Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport, half of a mile from the airport, the plane grazed the top of AirCare 5, a medical-evacuation Eurocopter EC135 and the Cessna crashed, killing the two aboard.

    The registered owner of the plane is Michael W. Price of Elkton, Va.

    Three people, pilot Paul Weve, co-pilot and flight nurse Joseph Root and flight nurse Carolyn Booke were aboard the helicopter, which landed safely. They had just dropped off a patient at the University of Virginia Medical Center. PHI Inc. of Lafayette, Louisiana owns the helicopter which is based at Weyers Cave Airport.

    Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport is 30 miles northwest of Charlottesville. SHD is an “uncontrolled airport” with no air traffic control tower.
