Flybondi Plane makes Tail Strike in Argentina

Flybondi flight FO-5450 made a hard landing on Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, Argentina, on July 15th.

The Boeing 737-800 flying from Las Heras, Argentina, had a tail strike while landing on the runway.

The plane sustained minor damage.

No injuries were reported.

Jet Airways Plane Returns to India after Tail Strike

Jet Airways flight 9W-70 had to return and make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, India, on May 12th.

The Boeing 737-900 flying to Bangkok, Thailand, had to return due to possible trail strike.

The plane landed safely.

All 180 passengers and 8 crew members remained safe.

Maldivian Airlines Plane Suffers Tail Strike While Landing in Maldives

A Maldivian Airlines plane struck its tail onto runway while landing in Kooddoo Island, Maldives, on February 18th.

The incident happened when the plane was performing flight Q2-160 from Kadhdhoo, Maldives.

The plane taxied to apron without further incident.

No injuries were reported.

Turkish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Moscow

Turkish Airlines flight TK-415 had to return for an emergency landing in Moscow, Russia, on January 12th.

The Boeing 737-900 plane took off for Istanbul, Turkey, but its tail hit the runway during rotation.

The crew subsequently returned to Moscow where the plane landed safely.

Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Air India Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kerala

airindia2An Air India Express flight had to make an emergency landing in Kochi, Kerala, India, on November 23rd.

The plane took off from Karnataka, India, and was heading to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, when it was diverted. According to Air India Express Manager Nagesh Shetty, “Suspected tail-pipe fire caused the flight to be diverted to Kochi.”

The plane landed safely. All 131 passengers and 9 crew members remained unharmed.

qantaslinkQantasLink plane hit the tail of a Network Aviation plane on the runway at Paraburdoo Airport, Paraburdoo, Western Australia, on the afternoon of October 5th.

The Boeing 717 taxied along the runway to depart for Perth when its tail struck the tail of another plane.

The plane was grounded and flight was delayed.

The incident remains under investigation.

Norwegian Air Shuttle Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Stockholm

Norwegian AirNorwegian Air Shuttle flight DY-3195 had to return and make an emergency landing in Stockholm, Sweden, on August 15th.

The plane took off for Copenhagen, Denmark, but had to turn back after the crew suspected a tail strike.

The plane landed safely. There were 108 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

Southwest Airlines makes Emergency Landing in Nevada

The plane took off for Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported possible tail strike on departure.

Okay Airways’ Tail Scrapes on Runway Surface upon Landing in China

Okay AirwaysOkay Airways flight BK-2823 made a hard landing at Nanning Wuxu International Airport, Nanning, China, on May 10th.

The Boeing 737-900, flying from Xian, China, got its tail scraped on the surface of the runway upon landing.

The plane rolled out without further incident.

All people onboard remained unharmed.

Martin Plane Returns to Netherlands due to Engine Shut-down

Martin flight MP-6021 had to return and make an emergency landing at Schiphol Amsterdam Airport, Amsterdam, Netherlands, on November 17.

The McDonnell Douglas MD-11, heading to Miami, Florida, had to return due to an engine problem. The pilot had to shut the tail-mounted engine down mid-air.

The plane landed uneventfully.

No injuries were reported.

US Airways Jet Hits Runway Lights in Charlotte; No Injuries

US AirwaysA US Airways jet, performing flight 1851, hit runway lights while trying to land in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 15.

Authorities said the Airbus A321 was coming from Atlanta, Georgia, when the pilot reported wind shear. The plane then hit the runway lights while trying to land, damaging the underside of its tail.

There were 153 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

The U.S. accident investigators have launched an inquiry into the incident.
