    The Airbus 330 plane, heading from Stockholm, Sweden to Chicago, USA, was diverted after the crew reported smoke in cabin. According to an airline spokesperson, “There was a smell of smoke in the cabin, which is believed to have been caused by a short-circuited coffee maker.”

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 146 passengers and 10 crew members remained unharmed.

According to airline spokesperson Halley Knigge, apparently the smoke was caused due to a melting battery. “The flight crew used a fire extinguisher to stop the device from smoking while the captain made flight emergency arrangements,” she said.

    The plane landed safely. There were 181 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; none of them were harmed.

    The pilot decided to make an emergency landing due to reports of smoke in the Maryland-bound aircraft’s cabin. Four passengers and a crew member sustained minor injuries while exiting through evacuation slides.

    The airline told the FAA that the mechanics could not find any problem in the aircraft.

    The president of the Airline Professionals Association Teamsters Local 1224, Dan Wells, said, “Believe me, the message was intentional and loud and clear: Don’t you dare push the safety stuff too far.”
