Swiss International Air Lines Flight Returns to Stockholm After Engine Fire Indication

Swiss International Air Lines flight LX-1233 had to return for an emergency landing in Stockholm, Sweden, on December 27th.

The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for Geneva, Switzerland, but had to turn back after the crew received an engine fire indication.

The crew had activated the fire suppression system before the plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Swiss International Air Lines Plane Returns to Pristina after Bird Strike

Swiss International Airlines Flight Returns to Copenhagen due to Engine issue

The plane took off for Zurich, Switzerland, but had to turn back after its right engine began emitting flames and loud bangs.

The crew shut down the engine before the plane landed back safely. No injuries were reported.

Swiss International Air Lines Plane Returns to Switzerland due to Ground Spoilers Problem

swissairSwiss International Air Lines flight LX-2250 had to return and make an emergency landing at Zurich Airport, Kloten, Switzerland, on July 7th.

The Helvetic Fokker 100, en-route to Budapest, Hungary, was mid-air above Austria when the crew reported that ground spoilers were inoperative, prompting the plane to return.

The plane landed uneventfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.

The flight was cancelled.

Swiss International Airlines Plane Returns to Switzerland due to Hydraulic Failure

The Airbus A330-300, heading towards Newark, New Jersey, had to return due to hydraulic failure.

The plane landed safely.

All 203 passengers and 12 crew members aboard remained unhurt.

Swiss Plane Diverts to Vienna due to Engine Problem

The Airbus A340-300 plane, en-route from Zurich, Switzerland, to Singapore, was diverted after one of its engines malfunctioned.

The plane landed safely in Vienna after dumping off extra fuel.

Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

Swiss European Airlines Flight Diverted to Stansted Due to Engine Fire

A Swiss European Airlines flight LX-487 had to make an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport, after one of its engines caught fire.

The plane was en route from London City to Basel on the night of Sunday April 27. During the initial climb, its right hand engine caught fire, after which the crew decided to halt the climb at the altitude of 5000 feet and shut down the engine. The plane was then diverted to the Stansted Airport, where it made an uneventful emergency landing, around 30 minutes after it took off.

All 82 passengers and 4 crew members exited safely. The flight was cancelled and the passengers were accommodated in another flight from London’s Heathrow Airport.

Why: After takeoff, the plane suffered a bird strike.

The pilot returned to Zurich where they made a safe landing. The plane was taken out of service to be inspected for damage, and passengers were provided alternative transportation. No description of the amount of damage or the unfortunate bird has been provided.

Who: 227 passengers
Why: Three/fourths of an hour out of Shannon, the flight developed various electrical problems with the circuit breakers affecting cabin lighting and the inflight entertainment system. With cabin lighting off, they diverted to Shannon, where the flight made a safe landing.

Passengers were provided alternative flights, albeit not on several different planes.

Why: On landing at Narita, the plane’s left gear began smoking, which engaged emergency services. Hydraulics were leaking from the top of the gear strut. Timely repairs were made so that the plane was able to make its return flight.
