    FedEx Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Tokyo International Airport

    FedExA FedEx plane made an emergency landing at Tokyo International Airport, Japan, on November 21.

    The Boeing-777 cargo plane, en-route from Shanghai, China, to Memphis, Tennessee, was diverted after a fire alarm went off mid-air.

    The plane landed safely. There were four crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Upon landing, the inspection teams searched the plane and found the fire source in a container.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Amakusa Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    The de Havilland Dash 8-100 aircraft was approaching the airport when the crew received fire indication for right hand engine and declared emergency. The plane was flying from Fukuoka at the time.

    The crew activated fire suppression system and shut down the engine before the plane safely landed. All 38 people aboard remained unharmed.

    The cause of smoke is being investigated.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane was turned back after the crew had to shut down one of the engines due to vibrations. The flight was en-route to Los Angeles, California at the time.

    7 Injured as U.S. Military Helicopter Crash-Lands in Japan

    helicopterA U.S. military chopper crash-landed around 20 miles east of Okinawa Island in Japan at around 1:46 p.m. on August 12th.

    The incident happened when the UH-60 Black Hawk, carrying 17 people, was on a training mission. According to the U.S. Pacific Command, it crash-landed on the USNS Red Cloud cargo vessel.

    Seven people were injured and were taken to a U.S. naval hospital on the Island.

    3 Dead after Plane Crashed in Tokyo Suburb

    FireA five-seater plane crashed into a residential area of Chofu, near Tokyo, Japan, on July 26.

    The plane went down after it had departed from Chofu airport. Authorities said the crash set several houses and cars ablaze.

    Three people, including 2 occupants of the plane and a female resident, lost their lives in the crash. At least 2 other people sustained injuries.

    The cause of crash is not clear at the moment.

    ANA Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    All Nippon Airways flight ANA 90 had to make an emergency landing at Naha airport on the island of Okinawa in Japan, on June 5.

    The Boeing 767 aircraft was en-route from Ishigaki Island to Haneda airport, Tokyo, when the pilot reported haze in the cockpit and requested an emergency landing.

    The plane landed uneventfully. None of the 101 passengers and 8 crew members was injured.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Japan Airlines Flight Returns to Haneda Airport

    Japan AirlinesJapan Airlines flight 521 made an emergency landing at Haneda airport in Tokyo, Japan, on April 8.

    The twin-engine Boeing 777 was heading from Haneda to Hokkaido when the pilot reported a suspected engine fault and sought permission to land back.

    Authorities said the aircraft’s right engine had to be shut down midair before it made a safe emergency landing.

    All 228 passengers and 11 crew members remained unhurt.

    2 Dead in Central Japan Helicopter Crash

    fireA helicopter crashed into a mountain forest in Kihoku, Mie Prefecture, Japan, at around 10:50 a.m. on March 6.

    Authorities believe the 22-seater helicopter touched a power cable, sparking fire in around 200 to 300 square meters forest area.

    Both occupants of the aircraft were killed in the accident. They were identified as 53-year-old Captain Yoshifumi and 41-year-old Yuki Fujimoto.

    The incident is under investigation.

    AA Flight Diverted to Japan after Hitting Turbulence; 14 Injured

    American AirlinesAmerican Airlines Flight 280 was forced to make an emergency landing at Narita international airport in Japan, early on December 17.

    The plane heading from Seoul, South Korea, to Dallas, Texas, had to be diverted after it encountered severe turbulence.

    The flight, carrying 255 people, landed at around 12:55 a.m. Authorities said atleast 14 people were injured due to turbulence. Five of them were shifted to hospital while the others were treated at the scene.

    The Airline said in a statement, “American’s primary concern at this time is for our passengers and crew on board the airplane and our team in Narita is providing assistance.”

    China Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    China AirlinesChina Airlines flight number CI-167, en route from Kansai International Airport in Osaka to Kaohsiung International Airport in Taiwan, made an emergency landing at Naha Airport in Okinawa, Japan at around 2:36 p.m. on June 26.

    The decision for emergency landing was made after the pilots noticed fuel levels rapidly dropping in the Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

    The passengers were accommodated in flight CI-123 to Taipei and flight CI-309 to Kaohsiung. China Airlines served dinner to all 154 passengers aboard before they resumed their journey.

    A spokesperson of the airline said that the aircraft is under inspection.

    US C-12 Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing at Fukushima Airport

    A U.S. C-12 logistics support aircraft, en route from Naval Air Facility Atsugi in Tokyo to Naval Air Facility in Misawa, northern Japan, had to make an emergency landing at the Fukushima Airport.

    The decision for emergency landing was made after the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit. The plane made uneventful emergency landing at about 7pm on May 22.

    According to Daniel Sanford, Senior chief Misawa public affairs, “They did some emergency procedures and the smoke dissipated, but they asked to make a precautionary landing.” He also confirmed that none of the 6 people on-board were injured.

    The aircraft is being examined by the Misawa maintenance personnel.
