    Malaysia AirlinesMalaysia Airlines flight MH148 had to return and make an emergency landing at Tullamarine airport in Melbourne, Australia, on June 12.

    The flight was en-route from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur when the crew reported a possible engine fire and requested an emergency landing.

    The plane landed safely and none of the 300 passengers reported any injuries.

    According to the airline, the initial inspection of the aircraft showed “no physical evidence of fire externally”.

    The single-engine plane was flying from Harris Ranch Airport, Coalinga when it lost engine power and had to land in emergency.

    The southbound lanes of the highway were temporarily closed due to the incident.

    Israir Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Ben Gurion International Airport

    The ATR plane took off from Sde Dov airport in north Tel Aviv and was en-route to Eilat when one of its engines failed. The pilot reported the situation to ATC and requested at emergency landing.

    Bill Clinton’s Jet Makes Unscheduled Landing in Tanzania

    A Canadian turboprop Dash 7 jet, carrying former President Bill Clinton, had to make an unscheduled landing in Dodoma, Tanzania on April 29.

    The plane was en-route from Iranga to Lake Manyara when one of its four engines malfunctioned. The pilot then had to land near Dodoma fueling station where the engine was repaired.

    The aircraft took off again shortly afterwards and safely landed at its scheduled destination.

    Clinton was visiting the country to tour projects funded by his foundation.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at South Carolina Highway

    A Cessna 206 had to make an emergency landing on Highway 29 in Wellford, South Carolina, on March 26.

    The plane, carrying members of a professional skydiving team ‘ Team Fastrax’, was heading to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, Greer, for refueling. However, its engine failed before it could make it to the airport.

    The plane made a safe emergency landing and everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    According to Pilot Hollis Collins, they were going to perform at Cooper River Bridge Run.

    The plane was able to take off from the highway on March 27.

    Experimental Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Cache County Hay Field

    A home built experimental plane made an emergency landing in an open hay field near 4800 West and Highway 218 in Cache county, Utah, on March 28.

    Authorities said the plane took off from Logan Cache Airport and was flying over the Trenton area when it began experiencing engine trouble. The pilot, identified as John Kerr, 74, of Logan, then decided to return to the airport, however, the plane’s engine failed midway.

    The aircraft made a hard landing and sustained major damage. The pilot remained uninjured.

    The incident is being investigated by the NTSB and FAA.

    The Authorities said the pilot was making an emergency landing due to engine failure when the plane flipped onto its top.

    According to a military spokesperson, the aircraft’s engine stopped working due to bad weather after it departed from Yellowknife with 7 people aboard. The pilot wanted to land back in Yellowknife but could not make it to the air field. The flight was on its way to Fort Simpson at the time.

    According to an Air Tindi news release, “Under very difficult weather conditions, the Caravan pilot was able to land the aircraft safely and evacuate the passengers.” All passengers were airlifted with no major injuries.

    The Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

    Small Plane Lands in Emergency at Kalifornsky Beach Road

    A Taylorcraft BC-12 aircraft made an emergency landing on Kalifornsky Beach Road in Alaska, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on November 16.

    According to Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters, the Soldotna-bound plane landed in emergency due to engine failure. “Essentially it had an emergency landing and then was able to get out of the road and into a parking lot,” she said.

    Clint Johnson, the NTSB’s chief Alaska investigator, confirmed that none of the 2 people aboard was injured.

    The plane was able to take off again next day.

    China Southern Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Guangzhou

    China SouthernChina Southern Airlines flight CZ3739 was forced to make an emergency landing in Guangzhou, Guangdong province of China, at around 9:40 p.m. on November 10.

    The aircraft was en-route from Zhuhai, Guangdong to Beijing, when the crew sought permission for an emergency landing. According to the airline, the plane experienced a mechanical engine failure.

    The flight landed safely and no injuries were reported.

    An alternate aircraft was arranged which departed for Beijing at 1:20 a.m. on November 11.

    The incident is under investigation.
