    F-16 Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

    An F-16C fighter jet made an emergency landing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Greene County, Ohio, on April 4th.

    According to the base spokesperson Bryan Ripple, the jet belonging to the Toledo-based 180th Fighter Wing declared an emergency due to a hydraulic leak.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    It is believed that the jet was involved in an aerial training exercise in the Buckeye Military Operating Area before the incident.

    Ohio National Guard Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Tuscarawas Township, Ohio

    An Ohio National Guard Black Hawk helicopter made an emergency landing in a field in Tuscarawas Township, Stark County, Ohio, on March 23rd.

    The aircraft was en-route from Akron-Canton Airport to Columbus, Ohio, when it had to make an emergency landing in a rye field.

    It is believed that the aircraft had experienced a transmission problem.

    No injuries were reported.

    Two Killed after Small Plane Crashes in Ohio

    A small plane crashed in Turtlecreek Township, Warren County, Ohio, on October 16th.

    The plane, carrying two people, went down in a wooded area near the YMCA Camp Kern.

    Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash. They were identified as Eric Hackney, 43, and Jesse Loy, 36. Both of them were from Punta Gorda, Florida.

    Authorities said the Hawker H25 business jet was approaching Akron Fulton International Airport when it apparently hit some power lines and crashed into the four-family apartment complex. The plane was flying from Dayton Wright Brothers Airport.

    There were 9 people aboard at the time; all of them were killed.

    The house, that was vacant at the time, was completely destroyed.

    The crash is under investigation.

    Columbus Police Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Parking Lot

    A Columbus police helicopter had to make an emergency landing in a parking lot in Columbus, Ohio, around midnight on April 30.

    Authorities said the helicopter’s pilot decided to land in emergency after a warning light went on.

    The plane safely landed near a shopping plaza in west Columbus. No one was injured.

    The helicopter was able to return to the police heliport early morning.

    The pilot declared an emergency after a smoky odor was detected in the aircraft’s cabin. The flight was heading from Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Michigan to Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the time.

    The Boeing 757-300 landed without incident and was able to taxi to the gate on its own power. No one aboard was injured.

    The plane was taken for examination while the passengers were transferred to another aircraft.

    United Flight Returns to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

    Small Plane Crashed in Paulding County, Ohio

    A small plane crashed near the intersection of county roads 137 and 60, northwest of Grover Hill in Paulding County, Ohio, at around 6 p.m. on November 6.

    Unconfirmed reports suggest that the single-engine plane was on its way from Fort Wayne International Airport to Toledo when it crashed.

    It is believed that all those aboard were killed. However, the authorities did not say how many people were travelling in the aircraft at the time of crash.

    The accident is under investigation.

    Small Plane Crashes at Greene County Airport

    Small planeA small plane veered off the runway and crashed at the Greene County – Lewis A. Jackson Regional Airport in Ohio, shortly after 6 p.m. on October 19.

    The incident happened when the pilot of the 1976 Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft was performing touch-and-go during a training exercise.

    The plane belongs to MacAir Aviation. Company’s spokesperson Ross McNutt said, “He [pilot] for some reason veered off of the runway and caught a light (wind) and caught a hill with the prop(eller), which spun the aircraft.”

    He also confirmed that the pilot escaped with only minor bumps at chin and neck.

    The FAA is investigating.

    Biplane Crashed in Liberty Township, 2 Killed

    A two-seater aerobatic biplane crashed in the backyard of a house near Sunrise View Circle in Liberty Township, Ohio, at about 8:54 a.m. on September 20.

    The plane immediately caught fire after crash and both men aboard were killed. The identities of victims have not yet been released.

    The authorities believe that the plane took off from the Butler County Regional Airport.

    The cause of crash is under investigation.

    Ohio Plane Crash Kills 4 University Students

    plane fireA single-engine Cessna 172R airplane crashed and caught fire in suburban Richmond Heights around Cleveland, Ohio, at about 10 p.m. on August 25.

    The accident happened shortly after the plane took off from Cuyahoga County Regional Airport with 4 students of Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University on-board. A spokesman for the NTSB, Peter Knudson, said that the plane was apparently coming back to the airport when it crashed.

    All 4 people aboard were killed in the accident. The victims were identified as Lucas Marcelli, 20, of Massillon, Ohio; Abraham Pishevar, 18, of Rockville, Maryland; John Hill, 18, of St. Simons, Georgia, and the pilot, William Felten, 20, of Saginaw, Michigan.

    According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol official, the plane was rented for 4 hours by Felten.

    The cause of crash is under investigation.
