Open Skies Plane Diverts to Shannon Airport

Open Skies flight BA-8004 had to divert for an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on December 26th.

The Boeing 767-300 plane, operating on behalf of British Airways, was en-route from Newark, New Jersey, to Paris Orly Airport, France, when all the toilets failed.

The crew subsequently decided to divert to Shannon where the plane landed safely.

All 172 people aboard remained unharmed.

Hop Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Oslo

hopHop Airlines flight A5-1278 made an emergency landing in Oslo, Norway, on December 3rd.

The plane was flying from Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, when the crew reported a slat fail message and declared an emergency.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Aeroflot Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Russia

AeroflotAeroflot Airlines flight SU-1255 had to return and make an emergency landing in Naberezhnye Chelny, Russia, on November 21st.

The plane took off for Moscow, Russia, but had turn back after the nose gear failed to fully retract.

The plane landed back uneventfully. There were 64 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

Novo Air Plane Returns to Dhaka after Problem with Landing Gear

Novo AirNovo Air flight VQ-967 had to return and make an emergency landing at Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, Bangladesh, on May 16th.

The Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, en-route to Rajshahi, Bangladesh, had to return after its landing gear failed to retract.

The plane landed safely.

No injuries were reported.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Tennessee River

A small plane made an emergency landing in Tennessee River at Decatur, Alabama, on April 7th.

The pilot of the small seaplane said he was doing some survey work for a proposed water pipeline when the aircraft’s battery failed, forcing him to make an emergency landing.

Both occupants of the plane, including the pilot Peter Serodino, of Chattanooga, and his only passenger, remained unharmed.

The plane was towed to a nearby marina.

Arall Aerolineas Llaneras Plane Crashes after Emergency Landing in Colombia

Arall Aerolineas Llaneras Douglas plane returned to make an emergency landing and crashed outside Puerto Gaitan Airport, Puerto Gaitan, Colombia, on April 7th.

The Douglas DC-3, en-route from Puerto Gaitan to Villavicencio, Colombia, had just climbed out of Puerto’s runway when the left hand engine failed, prompting the crew to return and attempt for an emergency landing.

The plane was completely destroyed.

All 3 crew members onboard were evacuated.

Two crew members suffered injuries and were taken to hospitals.

Korean Airlines Plane Returns to Seoul Airport

korean airKorean Airlines flight KE-621 had to return and make an emergency landing in Seoul, South Korea, on March 1st.

The Boeing 777-300 took off for Manila, Philippines, but had to return shortly afterwards after its nose gear failed to retract.

The plane landed uneventfully. All 267 people aboard remained safe.

The incident is under investigation.

China Eastern Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in China

China Eastern Airlines flight MU-5602 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Qingdao, China, on January 31.

The Airbus A321-200, en-route from Shenyang to Shanghai Pudong, China, was diverted after the left hand engine failed midair.

The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.
