Trans Maldivian Plane makes Crash Landing in Maldives

A Trans Maldivian flight made a crash landing at Velana International Airport, Malé, Maldives, on May 27th.

The de Havilland DHC-6-300 flying from Rangali Island, Maldives, had just landed when it tipped over to its left and its nose and left wing was submerged in the water.

All 9 passengers and 3 crew members were taken to hospital for precautionary measures.

The aircraft sustained partial damage.

Southwest Airlines Plane Diverts to Georgia due to Dripping Ceiling, Smoke and Smell

Southwest Airlines flight WN-1694 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia, on May 12th.

The Boeing 737-300 flying from Tampa, Florida, to Nashville, Tennessee, had to divert due to water dripping off its ceiling, smoke, and unusual smell aboard.

The plane landed safely.

All 129 passengers aboard remained safe.

Pilot Survives After Small Plane Crashes into Tampa Bay

A small plane crashed in the waters off Peter O. Knight Airport in Tampa, Florida, on March 12th.

Authorities said the plane lost power immediately after taking off and went down in water.

The pilot, who was the only aboard remained, remained unharmed.

The incident is being investigated.

LGW Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Problem

Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (LGW) Airlines flight AB-6479 had to make an emergency landing in Nuremberg, Germany, on January 11th.

The plane was heading from Saarbrucken to Berlin, Germany, when the crew reported an engine issue and decided to divert.

The crew had shut down the faulty engine before the plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

KLM Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Atlanta

KLM flight KL-624 had to return and make an emergency landing in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 8th.

The plane took off for Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew detected a water leak into the avionics.

The plane landed back uneventfully. All 325 people aboard remained safe.

Delta Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport

The plane took off for Hong Kong, China, but had to turn back after an indicator light went off.

The plane landed safely at Sea-Tac Airport where the fire trucks hosed down the brakes with water.

American EagleAmerican Airlines flight AA-57 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, on May 3rd.

The plane took off for Miami, Florida, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a maintenance issue related to water pressure.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Tennessee River

A small plane made an emergency landing in Tennessee River at Decatur, Alabama, on April 7th.

The pilot of the small seaplane said he was doing some survey work for a proposed water pipeline when the aircraft’s battery failed, forcing him to make an emergency landing.

Both occupants of the plane, including the pilot Peter Serodino, of Chattanooga, and his only passenger, remained unharmed.

The plane was towed to a nearby marina.

3 Dead, 1 Missing after Small Plane Crashes in Victoria

A small plane crashed into water at Barwon Heads on Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria, Australia, on January 29.

Authorities said the four-seater plane, flying from Moorabbin, went down some 2 kilometers off Collendina Beach.

Three people were killed in the accident while a fourth occupant is missing. The passengers included a 68-year-old man from Noble Park, a 63-year-old woman from Black Rock, a 65-year-old man from Black Rock, and 55-year-old man from Mordialloc.

The incident is being investigated.

Border Security Force Plane Crashed in New Delhi; 10 Killed

A Border Security Force (BSF) plane crashed near Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Dehli, India, on December 22.

The Beech SuperKing B200 aircraft, carrying 10 BSF personnel, went down just after taking off from the Delhi airport. Authorities believe the plane’s left engine stopped working, causing it to crash into the wall of airport’s sewage treatment plant and ending up in the water.

All ten personnel aboard the plane were killed in the crash.

The accident is being investigated.

AA Jet Diverts to Heathrow Airport

american airlinesAmerican Airlines flight US-705/AA-705 had to divert and make an emergency landing at London’s Heathrow Airport, on September 15.

The Airbus A330-200, heading from Frankfurt, Germany to Charlotte, North Carolina, had to be diverted after the crew reported cabin flooding due to fresh water leakage from one of the lavatories.

The plane landed safely.

None of the 194 passengers was hurt.

American Pilot, 5 Others Killed in Lagos Helicopter Crash

helicoptersaopA helicopter crashed into a lagoon in Oworonshoki, Lagos, Nigeria, on August 12th.

Authorities said the helicopter, operated by the Bristow Group, nose-dived into water behind a police station. It was transporting 12 people to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, from an offshore oil rig at the time.

Six people, including an American pilot, were killed in the crash. Six others were injured and were taken to nearby hospitals.
