    A privately owned helicopter crashed into trees on Curle Road, Eustis, Lake County, Florida, on September 25.

    The helicopter, flying from Umatilla Municipal Airport, Florida, crashed after the pilot encountered some problem in its engine.

    The 2 people aboard sustained injuries and were airlifted to hospital.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Allegiant Air Allegedly Fires Pilot for Making Emergency Landing

    AllegiantA pilot’s union claims that the pilot of the Allegiant Air flight 864 that made an emergency landing at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, Florida, on June 8 has been fired.

    The pilot decided to make an emergency landing due to reports of smoke in the Maryland-bound aircraft’s cabin. Four passengers and a crew member sustained minor injuries while exiting through evacuation slides.

    The airline told the FAA that the mechanics could not find any problem in the aircraft.

    The president of the Airline Professionals Association Teamsters Local 1224, Dan Wells, said, “Believe me, the message was intentional and loud and clear: Don’t you dare push the safety stuff too far.”

    Small Plane Crashes in Berks County Cornfield

    A small plane crashed into a cornfield in Washington Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, on September 21.

    The plane ended up in an upside down position near 1600 block of Route 100. According to a witness Tyler Moyer, “We heard the engine stall, and then it started back up… The farmer was still picking the corn. The farmer didn’t even notice it, and the dust was flying everywhere from the tractors and stuff,”

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was injured and was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the cause of crash.

    2 Injured as Small Plane Crashes in College Station

    A single-engine Cessna 172 plane crashed in a parking lot in College Station, Texas, on September 17.

    Authorities said the plane, travelling from Edgewood to Port Aransas, lost power before it went down around 10 miles south of Easterwood Airport.

    There were 2 people aboard, including the pilot Daniel Albert Fox and his wife Charlynn. Both of them sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to College Station Medical Center.

    The DPS and the FAA are investigating.

    3 Killed, 7 Injured as Plane Crashes in Alaska

    The DeHavilland DHC-3T Turbine Otter aircraft, carrying 10 people, went down while it was taking off from East Wind Lake.

    Three people were killed in the accident. They were identified as 80-year-old Tony W. Degroot, of Hanford, California, 69-year-old James Specter, of Shavertown, Pennsylvania and 70-year-old James P. Fletcher, of Clovis, California.

    Seven others were injured and were shifted to hospitals.

    The plane belonged to Rainbow King Lodge.

    The NTSB is investigating.

    Plane Crash in Colombia Kills Tom Cruise Movie Crew Members

    Authorities believe the aircraft, that was being used in shooting of Tom Cruise’s upcoming movie Mena, crashed due to bad weather.

    Two people were killed in the accident, including a Colombian native, Carlos Berl and a Los Angeles film pilot, Alan David Purwin. Another American pilot, Jimmy Lee Garland, sustained severe injuries and was taken to hospital.

    Universal Pictures said in a statement, “On behalf of the production, our hearts and prayers go out to the crew members and their families at this difficult time.”

    Air India Plane Makes Emergency Landing in India due to Hydraulic Failure

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route to Delhi, from Varanasi, had to be landed in emergency due to hydraulic failure, leading to heavy smoke.

    The 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter took off from Fort Carson and was on a routine training flight when it went down.

    There were 4 soldiers on-board at the time; all of them were injured. They were taken to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands in Florida Everglades; 2 Injured

    A Lancair LNC 4 aircraft crash-landed onto a levee in the Everglades, near Broward-Palm Beach county line, Florida, on August 30.

    The four-seater aircraft, which took off from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and was heading to Lynchburg, Virginia, crash-landed due to engine failure. Authorities said the aircraft cartwheeled and burst into flames upon landing.

    There were 2 people aboard the plane, including the 52-year-old pilot Ken McKenzie and his 50-year-old wife Sonia. Both of them sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

    Authorities said the pilot had reported low oil pressure shortly after the plane departed from Fort Lauderdale airport.

    2nd Combat Aviation Brigade’s Chopper Makes Emergency Landing in South Korea

    The OH –58 Kiowa Warrior helicopter was on a routine maintenance flight around the camp when it had to land in emergency.

    Two L-410 turbo-prop aircrafts collided mid-air near Cerveny Kamen village of western Slovakia, on August 20th.

    The accident happened when the planes were carrying 34 parachutists who were rehearsing for an air show in Slavnica.

    Seven people, including 3 parachutists and 4 pilots, were killed in the crash while 31 parachutists managed to survive by jumping off the planes.

    8 Seriously Injured as UN Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Sudan

    HelicopterA helicopter, working for the UN-AN peacekeeping mission in Darfur, made an emergency landing in Saraf Omra, North Darfur, Sudan, on August 16.

    The incident happened when the helicopter was flying from El Fasher, North Darfur. According to a spokesperson “A UNAMID helicopter, an Mi-8, carrying 18 passengers and three crew on board made an emergency landing approximately 100 metres” (yards) from the helipad at a base belonging to the mission at Saraf Omra in North Darfur.”

    Eight people sustained serious injuries in the incident while others sustained minor injuries. They were shifted to Saraf Omra base for medical aid.

    The cause of emergency landing is not clear at the moment.

    Small Plane Crashed onto Long Island Rail Road Tracks; 1 Killed, 1 Injured

    madridcrashA Hawker Beechcraft BE35 plane crashed onto Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) tracks at the crossing between Hicksville and Bethpage stations on Long Island, New York, on August 16.

    The plane was heading from Francis S. Gabreski Ariport, Westhampton Beach to Morristown when the pilot reported difficulty in maintaining altitude. Authorities said he was attempting to make an emergency landing at Republic Airport, Farmingdale but could not make it to there.

    The pilot was killed in the crash while his only passenger, identified as Carl Giordano, 55, of New Vernon, New Jersey, sustained injuries. He was taken to Nassau County University Medical Center.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    American Pilot, 5 Others Killed in Lagos Helicopter Crash

    Authorities said the helicopter, operated by the Bristow Group, nose-dived into water behind a police station. It was transporting 12 people to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, from an offshore oil rig at the time.

    Six people, including an American pilot, were killed in the crash. Six others were injured and were taken to nearby hospitals.

    A helicopter crash-landed in Atkinson, Henry County, Illinois, at around 5 P.M. on August 5.

    According to sources, the aircraft hit a power line, caught fire, and landed in a soy bean field.

    The pilot, who was the only person aboard, was pulled out of the burning helicopter by farm owner. He was airlifted to Peoria, Illinois, in serious condition.

    The NTSB and Illinois State Police were investigating the crash.

    Pilot Killed after Small Plane Crashed in Ireland

    A single-seater BD5 plane crashed near Clonea Upper in County Waterford, Ireland, on the evening of July 25.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was heading to Shannon Airport for attending the Foynes air show when the plane went down.

    According to Foynes Air Show Director Gerry Humphreys, “The pilot had taken off from Waterford and was on transit to Shannon Airport when a technical issue occurred. The aircraft crashed as the pilot was attempting to return to Waterford Airport. He was fatally injured in the crash.”

    Kitfox Plane Crashed in New Zealand; 2 Injured

    A Kitfox plane crashed near Balclutha Aerodrome, New Zealand, on the afternoon of July 25.

    The pilots noticed some engine trouble right after taking-off and decided to attempt an emergency landing, however, the plane crashed near the runway.

    The plane’s owner, 46, who was a trainee, was flying the plane along with his flight instructor, 48.

    Both men aboard sustained injuries and were airlifted to Dunedin Public Hospital.

    New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority and the police will investigate.
