    The Boeing 717-200, heading from Atlanta, Georgia, to Chicago, Illinois, had to divert after it encountered turbulence, resulting in the separation of its right hand engine’s cowl.

    The plane received substantial damage.

    All 114 people onboard remained unhurt.

    Woman Dies after Commercial Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Montana

    A commercial flight made an emergency landing at Billings Logan International Airport in Montana, on May 7th.

    The Star Alliance Boeing 737 plane, heading from Chicago, Illinois, to San Francisco, California, was diverted after a woman passed out mid-flight.

    The plane landed safely. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The cause of death is not known at the moment.

    Prince Hospitalized after Emergency Landing at Quad City International Airport

    Legendary artist Prince was rushed to hospital after making an emergency landing at Quad City International Airport, Moline, Illinois, on April 15th.

    It is believed that the Hall of Fame recording artist had been suffering from flu for several weeks. His condition worsened when he was flying back in his private plane after a show in Atlanta.

    He was released from the hospital after three hours and is recovering.

    A helicopter made an emergency landing in a parking lot in Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, on October 14.

    The aircraft was heading from O’Hare International Airport to Peoria, Illinois, when the pilot noticed oil leak and decided to land in parking lot of a Menard’s.

    The helicopter landed safely. The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained unhurt.

    The aircraft is registered to Rotor Holdings LLC, of Hampton, New Hampshire.

    Helicopter Crashed in Illinois after Hitting Power Line; Pilot Injured

    A helicopter crash-landed in Atkinson, Henry County, Illinois, at around 5 P.M. on August 5.

    According to sources, the aircraft hit a power line, caught fire, and landed in a soy bean field.

    The pilot, who was the only person aboard, was pulled out of the burning helicopter by farm owner. He was airlifted to Peoria, Illinois, in serious condition.

    The NTSB and Illinois State Police were investigating the crash.

    Allegiant Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Chicago Rockford Airport

    AllegiantAllegiant Air flight 8503 had to make an emergency landing at Chicago Rockford International Airport in Rockford, Illinois, on April 8.

    The plane took off from South Bend, Indiana and was heading to Wendover, Utah when the pilot reported an oil filter malfunction. FAA spokesperson Tony Molinaro confirmed that the plane made an uneventful emergency landing as a precaution.

    The plane was a charter for the Resorts at Wendover and was carrying around 115 people at the time.

    The passengers were accommodated in local hotels and were transported back to South Bend next day.

    7 Killed in Bloomington Plane Crash

    A Cessna 414 crashed into a farm field near Bloomington airport in Illinois, on April 6.

    The plane took off from Indianapolis at around 11 p.m. CT, however at 12:15 a.m., Peoria air traffic control informed the Central Illinois Regional Airport that the aircraft’s flight had not been completed.

    Multiple search teams were then launched which spotted the plane’s wreckage near McLean County Road 2100 East and Rt. 9.

    All seven people aboard were killed in the crash. The deceased include Illinois State University’s associate head coach Torrey Ward and athletic department’s deputy director for external relations Aaron Leetch.

    The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.

    United ExpressGo Jet flight 3645, operated by United Airlines, had to make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, on the afternoon of March 14.

    The plane was flying from Grand Rapids, Michigan, when its front landing gear failed to deploy. The pilot then declared emergency and asked the passengers to brace for landing.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 37 passengers and 4 crew members remained unharmed.

    The cause of incident is under investigation.

    Aeromexico flight 9101 was forced to divert and make an emergency landing in Chicago, Illinois, on February 5.

    The Boeing 737-800 was en-route from General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Cancun, Mexico, when the passengers heard a loud explosion. Shortly afterwards, the pilot announced that the aircraft was losing pressure and sought permission for an emergency landing in Chicago.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged an alternate aircraft for the passengers.

    United Flight Returns to O’Hare due to Issues with Cabin Pressure

    United airlinesUnited Airlines Flight 1218 had to return and make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport,  Chicago, Illinois, on February 3.

    The plane departed for Denver at 9:01 a.m. but had to return shortly afterwards due to issues with cabin pressure.

    The Boeing 737-900 landed safely and medics checked 175 people complaining of nausea and ear pain. Authorities confirmed that none of the passengers or crew members was taken to hospital.

    An airline spokesperson said, “Maintenance is inspecting the aircraft as we accommodate the customers.”

    The FAA is investigating.

    Cessna Makes Emergency Landing in East Carondelet Field

    CessnaA Cessna 172P made an emergency landing on a farmer’s field in East Carondelet, St. Clair County, Illinois, on January 13.

    The pilot landed the plane in emergency after reporting vibration and smell of smoke and oil to the air traffic controller at St. Louis Airport.

    The plane was carrying 2 people at the time of incident; neither of them reported any injuries.

    The aircraft is registered to Delaware-based Christiansen Aviation Inc.

    The NTSB is investigating.

    Small Plane Crashes into House Near Chicago Midway International Airport

    Aero commanderA small cargo plane crashed into a house near Midway International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, at about 2:42 a.m. on November 18.

    The plane departed from Midway Airport but immediately after taking off, the pilot informed the control tower about some engine issues and sought permission to return. However, the aircraft could not make it to the airport and crashed into a house.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was later identified as 47-year-old Eric Howlett, of Groveport, Ohio.

    The residents of the house, an 84-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife, remained uninjured. Chicago Fire Chief Michael Fox said, “They were in a bedroom next to the living room, and the living room is gone.”

    Authorities said the flight was originally scheduled for Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, however, the pilot changed flight plan at the last minute and listed Ohio State University Airport as the destination.

    The Aero Commander 500 aircraft is registered to Central Airlines in Fairway, which is the parent company of Central Air Southwest.

    The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.
