Ocean Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mogadishu

Ocean Airlines flight 0E-2212 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mogadishu, Somalia, on November 5th.

The plane took off for Nairobi, Kenya, but burst at least one tire during departure.

The crew performed an alternate gear extension before landing back in Mogadishu.

Plane Crash in Central Kenya Leaves 10 Dead

A small plane crashed in a mountainous area in central Kenya, on June 5th.

The wreckage of the Cessna plane, belonging to FlySAX airline, was found in the Aberdare forest.

There were ten people aboard at the time, including two pilots and eight passengers. All of them were killed in the crash.

The plane was heading from Kitale to Nairobi, Kenya, at the time.

Turkish Airlines Plane Diverts to Sudan After Bomb Scare

Turkish Airlines flight 606 had to make an emergency landing at Khartoum International Airport, Sudan, on November 30th.

The plane heading from Nairobi, Kenya, to Cairo, Egypt, was diverted after a passenger reported a bomb threat.

The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

It is believed that the bomb scare was caused due to an on-board wi-fi network called “bomb on board”.

Kenya Airways flight KQ-112 had to return and make an emergency landing in Nairobi, Kenya, on December 28th.

Helicopter Crash in Kenya Leaves 4 Injured

A 12-seater helicopter crashed at the National Youth Service (NYS) engineering institute near Mathare, Nairobi, Kenya, on September 8th.

The helicopter carrying 4 people was on routine patrol when it developed a mechanical problem.

All 4 people suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

The injured were taken to hospital.

Kenya Airways Plane Returns to South Africa due to Mechanical Problem

The Boeing 747-400 was flying from Nairobi, Kenya, to London, England, when it received a smoke indication mid-air above Netherlands.

The plane diverted and landed safely.

All passengers aboard remained unhurt.

Plane Crash Landed at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

Fokker-belly landingA Fokker 50 turboprop plane, operated by Skyward International Aviation, crash landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, early morning on January 4.

The authorities said the plane, en-route from Wajir to Nairobi, landed on its belly due to landing gear failure. None of the 6 people aboard was injured.

The flight operations were temporarily halted at the airport and all incoming flights were diverted to Mombasa airport. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) later released a statement saying, “Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has concluded the inspection of the runway at JKIA. JKIA Runway 6 has been cleared by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and is now open. Arrival and Departure flight operations have resumed.”

According to the local media reports, the aircraft was struck by birds upon take off, one of which got stuck in the landing gear mechanism.
