    Southwest Airlines Plane Suffers In-Flight Engine Failure; 1 Killed

    On April 17th, a Southwest Airlines plane suffered an in-flight engine failure and got hit by debris from the damaged engine, shattering a passenger window and killing one passenger.

    The incident happened when the flight WN-1380 was heading from LaGuardia Airport, New York, to Dallas, Texas.

    The crew subsequently initiated an emergency descent and diverted to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

    Passengers reported that the deceased passenger, identified as Jennifer Riordan, 43, was partially sucked out of the aircraft through the shattered window. She was pulled back in by fellow passengers.

    Two Dead After Small Plane Crashed in Parmer County, TX

    A small plane crashed in a cornfield in Parmer County, Texas, on April 15th.

    The plane was carrying a flight instructor and a student when it went down around eight miles west of Friona.

    Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash. They were identified as Clayton Sides, 25, and Thomas Jacob Hefner, 25.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    A small plane crashed in Medina County, Texas, on April 15th.

    Authorities said the plane went down in a brushy area near the Bexar-Medina county line.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash.

    A Delta Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Fargo, North Dakota, on April 12th.

    The plane heading from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, Minnesota, to Anchorage, Alaska, was diverted after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and eighty-nine passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    The plane, carrying six people, crashed at the TPC Scottsdale Champions Course shortly after departing Scottsdale Airport.

    All six occupants of the plane were killed in the crash.

    Two Soldiers Killed in Helicopter Crash at Fort Campbell

    A U.S. military helicopter crashed during routine training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on April 6th.

    Two soldiers were aboard the AH-64E Apache helicopter when it went down.

    Both soldiers were killed in the crash. They were identified as Chief Warrant Officer 3 Ryan Connolly, 37, and Warrant Officer James Casadona, 28.

    An investigation into the cause of crash is underway.

    Frontier Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Austin

    Frontier Airlines flight F9-195 made an emergency landing in Austin, Texas, on April 5th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane flying from Raleigh–Durham International Airport, North Carolina, was descending toward Austin when the crew declared an emergency due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and twenty-nine passengers and five crew members remained unharmed.

    Small Plane Crashes in Daytona Beach; Two Dead

    A small plane crashed in Daytona Beach, Florida, on April 4th.

    The Piper PA-28 plane, carrying two people, went down shortly after taking off from Daytona Beach International Airport.

    Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash.

    It is believed that the pilot was a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach while the passenger was a pilot examiner from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

    U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Pilot Killed in F-16 Crash

    A U.S. Air Force F-16 plane crashed in Nevada, on April 4th.

    The plane was performing a routine aerial demonstration training flight when it crashed over Nevada Test and Training Range.

    Thunderbirds pilot Major Stephen Del Bagno died in the crash.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Medical Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Arizona

    A medical helicopter made an emergency landing in Redington Pass, Arizona, on April 2nd.

    The LifeNet helicopter was carrying four people, including a patient, when it suffered an engine failure.

    The pilot subsequently made a safe landing near mile marker 2 on Redington Road.

    Another helicopter transported the patient to a hospital.

    The incident happened shortly after the pilot reported to the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center that he was changing course for weather avoidance.
