Turkish Airlines Flight Returns to Istanbul After Bird Strike

Turkish Airlines flight TK-629 had to return and make an emergency landing in Istanbul, Turkey, on November 28th.

The Boeing 737-8 MAX plane took off for Accra, Ghana, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Starbow Airlines Plane Skids Off Runway at Kotoka International Airport

A Starbow Airlines plane skidded off the runway at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana, on November 25th.

The plane, performing flight S9-104 to Kumasi, Ghana, was accelerating to takeoff when it veered off and crashed into a fence wall.

One passenger was injured in the incident, and was taken to a hospital.

The plane sustained significant damage.

Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing on Football Field in Ghana

HelicopterA helicopter made an emergency landing on a football field in Accra, Ghana, on December 2.

Authorities said the helicopter was forced to land on the football field of the Abelemkpe Two Basic School due to a technical malfunction.

The aircraft, owned by West African Helicopter, landed uneventfully and no injuries were reported.

The British Aerospace BAe 146-300, flying from Accra, Ghana, crashed into a barrier and stopped with its nose gear collapsed on a walkway.

The aircraft sustained significant damage.

No injuries were reported.

Presidential Jet of Ghana Catches Fire; No Injuries

The Presidential aircraft of Ghana caught fire while taking off from the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana, on March 3.

Authorities to the Ghana Armed Forces, the “aircraft lost two main left wheels… In spite of the serious veering of the aircraft to the left, they managed to slow and successfully turned off the runway without veering into the shoulders of the runway. The aircraft stopped successfully.”

After the Falcon 900 stopped, fire was discovered at the left wheels. Fire extinguishers were employed to put it out.

No one was injured in the incident.

Ethiopian Airlines Cargo Jet Skids Off the Runway in Ghana

Ethiopian airlinesEthiopian Airlines cargo flight ETEQV, operated by Asky Airlines, crash landed in Accra, Ghana, at around 10 a.m. on January 10.

The Boeing 737, en-route from Lome, Togo to Accra, Ghana, skidded during landing at the runway of Kotoka International Airport.

There were 3 people aboard the plane; all of them survived the accident. Authorities said they were taken to the 37 Military Hospital, Accra, for medical treatment and were later discharged.

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.

Starbow Flight Returns to Accra Due to Hydraulic Failure

StarbowA Starbow flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana, on October 28.

The flight was on its way from Accra to Takoradi when the pilot reported that the aircraft’s wing flaps were not functioning due to a hydraulic fault.

The British Aerospace 143-200 aircraft, carrying 77 passengers, was then diverted back to Accra where it made an emergency landing, shortly after it took off.

The authorities confirmed that 2 people were injured in the incident. They were shifted to the 37 Military Hospital.

The airline arranged an alternate aircraft to take the passengers to their destination.
