What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, en route from San Francisco to Chicago

Why: While en route, the pilot of the Southwest Airlines Boeing received a warning message indicating a fire in wheel well. The pilot diverted to Oakland and made a safe landing where passengers disembarked and waited to transfer to another plane.

Where: Kuwait
When: Oct 14 2010
Who: 229 passengers
Why: During take-off, an indicator displayed that a cargo door was open, so the take-off was aborted; braking caught the wheels on fire. The plane was evacuated, with no injuries.

Why: After a normal flight and a safe landing, on the runway, the left nose wheel rolled off by itself.

Imagine being a passenger on that plane, watching your wheel roll off. Actually, that happened to me in a car, once.

Why: On landing in Ahmedabad, the nose wheel fell off. Passengers disembarked via stairs directly on the runway and were bussed to the gate.

What: Cimber Air Aerospatiale ATR-72-500 en route from Copenhagen to Aalborg
Where: Kastrup Airport, Copenhagen
When: May 18th 2010
Who: 63 passengers and 4 crew
Why: After takeoff, the plane lost a nose wheel when a wheel fell off after an axle broke. The plane returned to land at Kastrup. The landing was safe, and the passengers were rebooked on a subsequent flight.
