What: AeroSur Boeing 737-400 en route from Santa Cruz to La Paz Bolivia
Where: La Paz
When: Aug 10th 2011
Who: 147 passengers, 6 crew
Why: On landing in La Paz, the right main gear tire blew out.

Emergency services responded to the disabled plane stranded on the runway. Damage included a hydraulic leak. The plane was towed to the gate.

DGAC Oversight Focuses on Ageing Aircraft

After Aerosur and Lloyd Aereo Boliviano experienced serious events with old airplanes, the Bolivian aviation authority announced an edict that banned planes older than 25 years from flying in Bolivian airspace to begin in January of this year. However, instead of a ban being activated, craft over than 25 years will undergo additional maintenance inspections and be under additional environmental scrutiny.

Aerosur will be affected by the special restrictions, but not Lloyd Aereo Boliviano, which is no more.

Santa Cruz Flight Emergency

What: AeroSur Boeing 727-200 en route from Santa Cruz to Miami,FL
Where: Cochabamba Bolivia
When: Feb 16th 2010
Who: 87 passengers
Why: While en route, the plane developed electrical problems and had to put down in Cochabamba. After overnighting in hotels, passengers will be flown back to Santa Cruz, and then on to Miami. No details have been released about the plane, as far as we know.

Boeing Emergency Landing in Paraguay

What: AeroSur Boeing 737-200 en route from Asuncion Paraguay to Santa Cruz
Where: Asuncio
When: Nov 23rd 2009
Who: 71 passengers
Why: While en route, the pressure in one engine dropped. The crew shut down that engine, and returned to the airport where they made a safe landing.

The 737 joined the AeroSur fleet in December 2008.
