United Airlines Flight Diverts to Tallahassee due to Smell of Smoke in Cabin

United Airlines flight UA-1239 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Tallahassee, Florida, on June 13th.

The Boeing 737-900 plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Chicago, Illinois, was diverted after smell of smoke was noticed in the cabin.

The plane landed safely. There were one hundred and fifty-five people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

Two Killed as Small Plane Crashes in Madison County

A two-seater RV-4 plane crashed in a heavily wooded area off Mosley Hall Road in rural Madison County, Florida, on December 17.

The plane took off from Jim Taylor Field at Ocala International Airport and was heading to Tallahassee International Airport when it went down.

There were two people aboard at the time; both of the were killed in the crash. They were identified as the pilot William Swiggart, 32, and the passenger Maitland Harvey, 18.

The cause of crash is being investigated.

Southwest Airlines Jet Diverts to Tallahassee

southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight 206 had to make an emergency landing in Tallahassee, Florida, on November 20.

The plane was en-route from Atlanta to Tampa when it was diverted due to an electrical smell in the cabin.

The plane landed uneventfully. All 143 passengers and 5 crew members remained safe.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

Why: The Plane’s autopilot, yaw damp and pitch trim malfunctioned in the first 45 minutes of Crist’s flight from Tallahassee. The yaw damp is part of the autopilot system that helps stabilizes the tail, and the pitch trim the craft’s up and down movement.
