A MiG-31 fighter jet crashed around 25 kilometres away from Armavir town of southern Russia, at 7:38 a.m. on September 4.

According to the authorities, the right landing gear of the aircraft did not function when the pilot tried to land during a training. After multiple attempts, the jet ran out of fuel and the chief flight controller directed both the pilots aboard to fly to a safe location and bail out.

The Russian Defense Ministry officials confirmed that nobody was hurt in the crash. They also said that there was no ammunition on the plane.
