United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cabin Pressure Problems

United Airlines flight UA-4855 made an emergency landing in Burlington, Vermont, on July 22nd.

The plane heading from Portland, Maine, to Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, was diverted due to cabin pressure problems.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

JetBlue Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Stewart International Airport

JetBlue flight B6-2533 made an emergency landing at Stewart International Airport, New York, on January 31st.

The plane heading from Burlington, Vermont, to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, was diverted after the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Detroit-Bound Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Syracuse

ExpressJetExpressJet flight 5166, operating as Delta Connection, made an emergency landing at Syracuse Hancock International Airport, New York, on February 19.

The plane took off from Burlington International Airport, Vermont, and was heading to Detroit, Michigan, when the crew noticed a mechanical issue and decided to divert.

The plane landed safely. All 49 people aboard remained unhurt.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

US Airways Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cracked Windshield

US AirwaysA US Airways express flight made an emergency landing at Burlington International Airport, Vermont, on March 26.

The plane was heading from Philadelphia to Montreal when the pilot reported a windshield crack and requested an emergency landing. According to Burlington airport operations foreman Doug Wood, “The crack was reportedly getting larger and working its way down the windshield, so the pilots elected to get the plane on the ground as soon as possible and have it inspected before they did lose the windshield.”

The plane landed uneventfully and all 50 passengers aboard remained safe.

The airline said passengers will be transported to Montreal via bus.

Aerobatic Stunt Pilot Survives Fiery Plane Crash

small planeOn Friday, April 18th 2014, Dan Marcotte, an experienced aerobatic stunt pilot survived a fiery plane crash by parachuting out of his single-passenger plane.

The plane bursted into flames and crashed on interstate 89 near Burlington, Vermont, moments after he jumped out. Hearing the explosion, the fire fighters rushed to scene and found Marcotte’s parachute dandling from a tree.

Vt. State Police Lt. Garry Scott said that Marcotte probably got the intuition that something was wrong with the plane, and he jumped out in time. He got some minor injuries, but his life is out of danger.

Marcotte is well known for his amazing stunts at grand events like Independence Day celebrations on the Burlington waterfront.

Where: emergency landing on Interstate 89 near the town of Swanton Vermont
When: Friday afternoon 12:50 p.m. in the southbound land at about mile marker 125.
Who: Pilot Daniel Marcotte, 34, of Bakersfield was the only one aboard. He was not injured.
Why: The plane developed engine trouble.
