Piedmont Airlines Flight Returns to Long Island MacArthur Airport

Piedmont Airlines flight PDT-4868 had to return and make an emergency landing at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip, New York, on May 16th.

The plane took off for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but had to return shortly afterwards after a light bulb in the cockpit started emitting smoke.

The plane landed back safely. All 40 passengers and 3 crew members remained unharmed.

Southwest Airlines Plane Diverts to New Jersey Due to Engine Issue

southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight 3348 made an emergency landing in Newark, New Jersey, on April 29th.

The plane, heading from Long Island MacArthur Airport, New York, to Baltimore, Maryland, was diverted due to an issue with one of the engines.

The plane landed safely. All 131 passengers and 5 crew members remained unharmed.

A replacement plane was arranged for the passengers.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Orange County

A small Piper Cherokee plane made an emergency landing at Red Hill and McGaw avenues in Irvine, Orange County, California, on September 16.

Authorities said the plane, owned by Orange Coast College, came to rest at MacArthur Boulevard near John Wayne Airport.

There were 2 people, including a student pilot and an instructor, aboard at the time; none of them reported any injuries.

The FAA is looking into the cause of crash.
