U.S. Navy Fighter Jet Crashes Off Key West; 2 Killed

A U.S. Navy fighter jet crashed near the Naval Air Station Key West, Florida, on March 14th.

The F/A-18F Super Hornet plane was performing a training flight when it went down.

There were two aviators aboard, including the pilot Lt. Cmdr. James Brice Johnson and the weapons systems operator Lt. Caleb Nathaniel King; both were killed in the crash.

The incident is being investigated.

The plane heading from Key West International Airport to Tampa, Florida, was diverted due to engine issues.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were 28 passengers and 3 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing on U.S. Highway 27

A small plane made an emergency landing on U.S. highway 27, just north of Interstate 75, in Weston, Broward County, Florida, on January 24.

The Cessna 172 was en-route from Palm Beach County to Key West when the pilot Arnaldo Santiago, of Palm Beach Gardens, noticed some issue in the plane and decided to land on the highway.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were three people aboard at the time; none of them were injured.

Engine Failure Prompts Cessna to Land near Key West International Airport

A single-engine Cessna made an emergency landing near Key West International Airport in Monroe County, Florida, at around 10:20 a.m. on January 3.

Authorities said that the plane, en-route from Naples to Key West airport, ended up in around 3 feet of water in salt ponds after the pilot reported engine failure.

There were 6 people on board at the time of incident; all of them remained unharmed.
