<p>The Boeing 737-400 plane heading from Porto, Portugal, to Boa Vista, Cape Verde, was diverted due to indication of an engine issue.</p>
<p>The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.</p>

<p>The plane was en-route to Republic Airport, Farmingdale, when it developed some engine issues. Authorities said the parachute attached to the plane deployed before it went down in a grassy area, just 8 miles east of Republic Airport.</p>
<p>The plane was carrying two people at the time, including the pilot Louis Obergh and his daughter, Rachel Obergh. Both of them suffered minor injuries. They were returning after visiting University of Rhode Island.</p>
