    Virgin Australia Flight Diverts due to Bomb Threat

    A Virgin Australia plane had to make an emergency landing at Brisbane International Airport in Queensland, Australia, on February 17.

    The plane was heading from Sydney International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport, California, when the airline received a bomb threat and decided to divert it for an emergency landing.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    The authorities later confirmed that the threat was a hoax.

    1 Killed, 1 Injured as Tiger Moth Plane Crashes in Australia

    A vintage Tiger Moth plane crashed on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, on December 28.

    The biplane, operated by Gold Coast-based Tiger Moth Joy Rides, went down shortly after taking off from an airstrip in Norwell.

    A 58-year-old sightseer from New South Wales was killed in the crash. The 21-year-old pilot, who was the only one aboard sustained injuries and was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

    The accident is under investigation.

    Jetstar Flight Diverts to Brisbane Due to Engine Problems

    downloadJetstar flight JQ 189 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, at around 10 a.m. on February 3.

    The plane was en-route from Gold Coast to Christchurch when it developed some engine problems.

    According to the airline, “The captain requested a priority landing and the aircraft landed without incident. We’re currently investigating. We will work to get customers on their way to Christchurch as soon as possible.”

    First Officer Attacked by Stairway

    Why: The plane was in its parking bay as the first officer was inspecting the plane prior to departure, when the exhaust of a departing Qantas jet blew the mobile stairs, including the first officer, over. Both stairs and pilot ended up on the tarmac, the first officer ending up with a broken arm and leg. The plane was in its parking bay. The pilot departed for the hospital, presumably by ambulance, and the plane departed for Bali, with only a 90 minute delay.

    I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this happening!
