Landing Practice Turned Upside Down at Maine Airport

On Jan 15, 2013, Robert Lewandowski, the pilot of a Morgan Aviation Aeronca 7A was training at Central Maine Airport—practicing landings— but on his eighth landing, it appeared that the plane’s rear wheel developed a problem.

The plane veered off-runway, hopped snowbanks, struck a snow bank and flipped. The rented plane’s propeller and right wing strut sustained damage. The FAA is investigating.
