<p>The left engine was shut down.  Pilots made a safe landing.  Croatia spokesman Davor Januši? said that the passengers were not at any time in danger.</p>

<b>Why: </b> While en route (near final approach), one engine developed problems, overheated and was shut down. The flight was declared an emergency and  landed safely at its destination.  Apparently a generator failed, and that lead to the engine overheating, but hydraulics were not affected.</p>
<p>An <a href="http://connect.in.com/air-india/news/spicejet-flight-makes-emergency-landing-313826-ce93594459fe2719dc1ce81245803f0f174d27f9.html" target="_blank" data-wpel-link="external">article </a> attributes the emergency to landing gear not operating.  However, this may be referring to a separate incident, as the date and time and vehicle registration on both <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Snag-hit-jet-makes-emergency-landing-on-single-engine/articleshow/5357536.cms" target="_blank" data-wpel-link="external">events</a> is not clear. <p><b>What: </b>   JAL Japan Airlines/ J-Air Canadair CRJ-200 en route from from Osaka Itami to Yamagata Japan<br />
<b>Where: </b>   Nagoya<br />
<b>When: </b>    Nov 23rd 2009<br />
<b>Who: </b>   17 on board<br />
<b>Why: </b>  While en route, the plane&#8217;s generator began running too hot.  The flight diverted to  Nagoya where they made a safe landing.  The cause of the problem appeared to be a faulty cable.  </p>
