An IRS Airlines owned Fokker 100 crashed in the Niger Republic on the evening of May 10.

The aircraft (registration number 5NSIK) was flying back to Nigeria after going through C checks when it lost communication with the control tower near Ganla at about 7:30 p.m. and then crashed.

The plane was carrying two persons at the time of accident. Both of them survived.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had ceased the operations of IRS airlines last year after one of its aircrafts experienced hydraulic malfunctioning while landing at Kaduna airport. The airline, operating 3 Fokker 100 planes at the time then scheduled C checks for the aircrafts.

The crashed Fokker plane was the second one which underwent successful C checks. The airline, owned by a Nigerian business tycoon, Ishiaku Rabiu, was awaiting its return to resume their operations. An IRS official was quoted saying, “I have not heard about the crash before now but I know that we are waiting for this aircraft to arrive today (May 10) so that we could resume operation immediately. We already have one that had gone through C check; we are just waiting for this one. So if it has crashed it will be a great setback to us.”

According to the Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Benedict Adeyileka, Niger Republic officials are investigating the crash. He further said “The NCAA and the AIPB are offering assistance, so we have a team together and we are trying to contact them so that we can work together.”

The post Fokker 100 Owned by Nigeria’s IRS Airline Crashed in Niger Republic first appeared on George Hatcher's Air Flight Disaster.

The plane, carrying 49 passengers, was en route from Petrolina to Brasilia airport on March 28. The pilot requested emergency landing protocol as his attempt to lower the plane’s front landing gear failed.

Media sources report that the pilot kept flying the passenger jet around the city, in order to shed the weight of extra fuel. The plane then safely landed on its rear wheels, while the fire crew foamed it to avoid a friction fire when its nose touched the runway.

BEA Fokker 27, registered I-MLVT, 25 October 2013, Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport, France

INFORMATION ON 27 OCTOBER 2013

The BEA has initiated a Safety Investigation following the accident that occurred to the Fokker 27 Mk 500, operated by the Italian airline Miniliner on behalf of the French airline Europe Airpost.

The cargo aeroplane, with two pilots on board, had taken off at 01h10 (local time) from Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport bound for Dole, France. A few minutes later, the aeroplane suffered uncontained damage to the left engine. During the accident, a left propeller blade went through the fuselage. At 01h20, the crew made an emergency landing back at Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport.

A team of three investigators from the BEA went to Roissy on Friday 25 October to begin the first work on the investigation. The flight recorders, along with the propeller, will be sent to the BEA on Monday 28 October.

Organisation of the Investigation

In accordance with the provisions of European Regulation 996/2012, the BEA has associated the following organisations with the Safety Investigation:

ANSV (Agenzia Nazionale per la Sicurezza del Volo, Italy) representing the State of Operation of the aeroplane,
AAIB (Air Accidents Investigation Branch, United Kingdom) representing the State of Manufacture of the aeroplane’s engine and
the Dutch Safety Board (Netherlands) representing the State of Manufacture of the aeroplane.
The preliminary examination of the propeller blade that separated from the engine and the readout of the flight recorders will be undertaken at the BEA at the beginning of this week, in the presence of the BEA’s foreign counterparts and their technical advisers.

The post Fokker 27 Investigation first appeared on George Hatcher's Air Flight Disaster.

What: Biman Bangladesh Airlines en route from Dubai to London
Where: Amman Jordan
When: Sep 18th 2011
Who: 193 passengers
Why: Before this flight, the plane had been delayed in Dhaka Bangladesh with an undesignated problem with an engine that delayed the prior flight for three hours.

Then, after taking off from Dubai, the plane developed engine problems.

The pilot diverted the flight to Amman Jordan, where there was a layover as the problem was handled.

What: Biman Bangladesh Airlines DC10 en route to Jeddha and Riyadh
Where: Amman Jordan
When: Sep 18th 2011
What: Since Thursday, 314 passengers on two DC10 had to wait 40 hours after the (two) Biman Bangladesh Airlines DC10s developed undisclosed problems. After being cleared by immigration, they were held in the airport without food since Saturday. The airlines has been plagued with scheduling issues snowballing after one flight was grounded for hydraulic leaks and another for engine problems. Currently three Biman Bangladesh Airlines are grounded, including a DC-10, a Fokker, and a Boeing 737.

An unsubstantiated rumor is being circulated that within the airlines “a vested group…may have a hand behind [the flight delays] to realize some personal gains.”

The post Biman Bangladesh Airlines= Running Late Airways first appeared on George Hatcher's Air Flight Disaster.
