An ultralight aircraft crashed near Petaluma Municipal Airport in Sonoma County, California, on the afternoon of April 3.
The pilot was killed in the accident. His identity was not immediately released.
FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor confirmed the incident, saying that the experimental Quicksilver MXL II aircraft went down under unknown circumstances.
The aircraft is registered to a Petaluma man.
The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.
