Two Israel Air Force F-16 fighter jets almost crashed into a Ryanair passenger plane near Ovda Airport, Israel, on March 1st.

The passenger plane was en-route from Krakow, Poland, to Ovda airport, Israel, when two fighter planes, engaged in the training exercises, came “dangerously close”. The Ryanair pilots changed the course at the last minute to avert the crash.

The flight FR-2616 was carrying 162 passengers at the time.

The airline confirmed the incident but said that “These military aircraft were at all times over 3 miles away from the Ryanair aircraft, so the reports of a ‘nearly crash’ or ‘evasive manoeuvres’ are all false and invented. All passengers on board the Ryanair aircraft noticed nothing, since our aircraft never diverted from its cleared flight path to Ovda.”

The post Israeli Warplanes Came Dangerously Close to Ryanair Passenger Plane first appeared on George Hatcher's Air Flight Disaster.

The jet took off for a routine training flight, however, it had to land back in emergency due to a landing gear malfunction. Col. Clay Garrison, a 144th Fighter Wing commander, said the plane’s wheel failed to retract after it took off and therefore, an arresting gear was employed to help it land safely.

A Luton-bound private passenger jet was escorted from Lagos by two British fighter jets to make emergency landing at Stansted airport, Essex at 7:49 p.m. on July 24.

The aircraft, which is believed to be a Gulfstream small business jet, lost contact with UK authorities shortly after 7 p.m., forcing deployment of two Eurofighter Typhoons from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.

Reportedly one of the jet fighters also landed at the airport.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “Military jets were deployed on a precautionary basis when a private jet was diverted to Stansted…This was due to a loss of communication with the aircraft. The aircraft landed safely at Stansted airport at 7.49pm… All three people who were on board have been spoken to by police, it was established that everything was in order and the police response was stood down.”

The post British Fighter Jets Escorted Private Jet to Stansted first appeared on George Hatcher's Air Flight Disaster.
