<p>The Super Puma helicopter, carrying a captain, a lieutenant and sergeant, went down after taking off from Mauritania. Authorities said the chopper had been involved in military exercises in Dakar, Senegal and stopped at Mauritania for refueling.</p>
<p>All 3 crew members went missing after the crash. A search operation is underway.</p>

<b>Why: </b> While en route the plane developed engine problems.  One account says the pilot saw an engine on fire and contacted ATC for immediate clearance for an emergency landing.  </p>
<p>The official report says that the plane was experiencing engine surges. </p>
<p>What matters is that the plane landed safely, with no casualties.
