]]> A single-engine plane crashed in a wooded area about 3 miles northwest of Ranger in rural Central Texas around midnight on August 16.

The accident happened after the small plane took off from Cook Canyon Ranch Airport near Ranger with a 3-member family aboard.

All 3 people lost their lives in the crash. Fred Biddle with the Texas Department of Public Safety identified the victims as John C. Weaver of Granbury, his wife, Debra S. Weaver and their daughter, Courtney A. Weaver from Plano.

Lunsford also said that the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
