										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Presidential aircraft of Ghana caught fire while taking off from the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana, on March 3.</p>
<p>Authorities to the Ghana Armed Forces, the &#8220;aircraft lost two main left wheels… In spite of the serious veering of the aircraft to the left, they managed to slow and successfully turned off the runway without veering into the shoulders of the runway. The aircraft stopped successfully.&#8221; </p>
<p>After the Falcon 900 stopped, fire was discovered at the left wheels. Fire extinguishers were employed to put it out.  </p>

<p>The flight was on its way from Accra to Takoradi when the pilot reported that the aircraft’s wing flaps were not functioning due to a hydraulic fault.</p>
<p>The British Aerospace 143-200 aircraft, carrying 77 passengers, was then diverted back to Accra where it made an emergency landing, shortly after it took off.</p>
<p>The authorities confirmed that 2 people were injured in the incident. They were shifted to the 37 Military Hospital.</p>

<p>The accident occurred after the helicopter, belonging to Ghanian subsidiary of the Russian oil company Lukoil, took off from Takoradi&#8217;s western port, with 5 Ghanians, 1 French, 1 British and 1 Nigerian on board.</p>
<p>Three people were killed in the incident. According to Kwame Mamphey, the director general of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), 4 people were rescued after the helicopter crash while another one is missing and presumed dead.</p>
<p>The survivors were taken to hospitals where one of them is believed to be in serious condition.</p>
