    Qatar Airways Plane Makes Safe Landing in Philippines

    The Boeing 777-300 was en-route to Manila from Doha, Qatar, when it faced clear air turbulence causing emergency landing.

    Five people aboard including 3 children and 2 flight attendants sustained injures as they were not wearing seat-belts.

    IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Medical Emergency

    IndiGo AirlinesAn IndiGo Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India, on September 21st.

    The plane heading from Kolkata, West Bengal, to Bengaluru, Karnataka, was diverted due to a medical emergency.

    According to Director, Swami Vivekanand International Airport, Santosh Dhoke, “The aircraft landed here at around 2.30 PM to address the medical emergency after a family complained of a health problem suffered by their two-month old baby.”

    The baby was rushed to hospital, however, he could not be saved.

    United Airlines Flight Diverts to Shannon Airport

    United Airlines flight 102 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on February 12th.

    The Boeing 767 plane, heading from Houston, Texas, to Munich, Germany, was diverted after the crew reported problems with one of the two engines.

    The plane landed safely. There were 98 passengers and 13 crew members aboard; none of them were harmed.

    Float Plane Crashes in Buss Lake Canada

    What: de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver
    Where: Buss Lake Canada
    When: June 30, 2011
    Who: 3 fatalities
    Why: The pilot issued a distress beacon at 1:45 pm in a very remote location in Saskatchewan. The flight was apparently a fishing expedition.

    The plane was spotted in the lake by a pilot who was flying by and heard the signal, and reported the location to Canadian Forces Base Trenton in Ontario, who sent a Hercules aircraft from 435 Squadron in Winnipeg.

    The Hercules was able to land after dropping a chainsaw to rescue techs to clear the brush.

    The float plan crashed in Buss Lake, Saskatchewan. All three aboard, including the pilot, died in the crash. Two search and rescue team members are on site but the cause of the crash is unknown.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Canada

    American Airlines flight AA-54 had to divert and make an emergency landing in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on December 19th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Chicago, Illinois, to Manchester, England, was diverted due to indication of oil pressure loss in one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Raleigh–Durham International Airport

    United Airlines flight UA-1700 had to return and make an emergency landing at Raleigh–Durham International Airport, North Carolina, on December 29th.

    The plane took off for San Francisco, California, but had to turn back due to a gear issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 145 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.
