Lessors upset as moratorium keeps Go planes out of reach

Go Air’s refusal to return leased planes amid insolvency proceedings is causing scepticism among lessors towards India’s aviation market, impacting long-term views and potentially leading to higher premiums for leasing. Some lessors are furious that they have been barred from accessing the planes, and have contested the admission of the plea in the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal. Ireland-based lessor SMBC Aviation alleged that Go Air’s insolvency plea was an attempt by the promoter group to exit the airline while depriving creditors and equipment owners of their claims and assets.
