Lufthansa Flight Diverts to Milan–Malpensa Airport

Lufthansa flight LH-511D had to divert for an unscheduled landing at Milan–Malpensa Airport, Italy, on March 18th.

The Boeing 747-400 plane en-route from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Frankfurt, Germany, was diverted due to an issue with the de-icing systems.

The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Delta Airlines Flight Makes Unscheduled Landing at JFK Airport

 

250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-96 had to divert and make unscheduled landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on May 25th.

The plane, heading from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, was diverted after the crew reported a fuel contamination issue.

The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.

AA Flight Diverts to Dublin Due to Medical Emergency

American EagleAmerican airlines flight AA787 had to divert and make an unscheduled landing at Dublin Airport, Ireland, on October 24.

The Airbus A330-200 plane, heading from Paris to Charlotte, North Carolina, was diverted after a passenger went into premature labour mid-air.

The plane landed safely. The woman was shifted to Rotunda Hospital, Dublin.

Bill Clinton’s Jet Makes Unscheduled Landing in Tanzania

A Canadian turboprop Dash 7 jet, carrying former President Bill Clinton, had to make an unscheduled landing in Dodoma, Tanzania on April 29.

The plane was en-route from Iranga to Lake Manyara when one of its four engines malfunctioned. The pilot then had to land near Dodoma fueling station where the engine was repaired.

The aircraft took off again shortly afterwards and safely landed at its scheduled destination.

Clinton was visiting the country to tour projects funded by his foundation.

British Airways Boeing Made Another Unscheduled Landing at Shannon Airport

British airwaysBritish Airways Flight BA-48 had to make an unscheduled landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, at around 10:24 a.m. on November 23.

The pilot sought permission for diverting to Shannon Airport after one of the engines of Boeing 777 aircraft had to be shut down due to some fault. The flight was en-route from Seattle, Washington to London Heathrow at the time.

The plane landed uneventfully and all 220 passengers and crew members remained unharmed. The aircraft was taken for examination.

An airline spokesperson said, “Our flight diverted to Shannon due to a minor technical issue and our cabin crew looked after the customers on board. Safety is always our first priority, and the aircraft diverted purely as a precaution.”

A replacement plane was arranged for the passengers which took off 6 hours later.

Earlier on November 21, the same aircraft, performing flight BAW-215 from London Heathrow to Boston, made an unscheduled landing at Shannon Airport due to a problem with generators.

British Airways Flight Diverts to Shannon Airport

British airwaysBritish Airways flight BAW-215 had to divert to Shannon Airport in Ireland, for an unscheduled landing on November 21.

The Boeing 777-200ER was on its way from London Heathrow to Boston when the crew reported a technical issue. It is believed that the one of the aircraft’s generators stopped working and the backup unit had to be used.

The plane dumped fuel to shed off extra weight and landed safely at Shannon airport at 6:58 p.m.

Engineers examined the aircraft after which it was able to resume its journey shortly after 9 p.m.

Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Unscheduled Landing at LAX

southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight 1429 en route from Sacramento to Bob Hope Airport, Burbank, made an unscheduled landing at Los Angeles International Airport in the afternoon of October 5.

The pilot of the Boeing 737 decided to divert after he noticed a warning light indicating a potential issue with the aircraft’s flaps. The airline later released a statement saying that the decision to land at LAX was made “out of an abundance of caution.”

The flight landed safely and all 123 passengers onboard were transported to Burbank with a delay of few hours from the schedule. The pilot informed that the situation did not require any emergency protocols, therefore, no emergency vehicles were called on the scene at the time of landing.

A Southwest spokesperson confirmed that aircraft is being examined by the mechanics.

FedEx Plane Diverts to Whitehorse Airport for Emergency Landing

FedExA FedEx Boeing 777 freighter had to make an unscheduled landing at the Whitehorse airport, Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, shortly before 8 a.m. on September 4.

According to a FedEx spokesperson, the flight, en-route from Memphis, Tennessee, to Anchorage, Alaska, was diverted for emergency landing “due to technical issues.”

The Whitehorse emergency firefighters and medics were put on alert on the airport when the plane landed safely. No one was injured.

The U.S. FAA is investigating.

Istanbul-Bound Air Canada Flight Makes Unscheduled Landing at Heathrow

Air CanadaAir Canada flight AC 810, from Toronto to Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, made an unscheduled landing at London Heathrow Airport, at 5:38 a.m. local time on August 23.

According to the Air Canada spokesperson Isabelle Arthur, the plane was diverted as a precaution after the crew reported an ‘oil indication’. However, she did not provide details.

Emergency services were put on alert as the plane safely touched the runway at London Heathrow. All passengers and crew members remained unhurt.

The passengers were booked on other flights while the plane was temporarily grounded for inspection.
