Air India flight AI-171 was intercepted by fighter jets on March 10th.

The Boeing 787-800 plane was heading from Ahmedabad, India, to Heathrow Airport, England, when it lost communication. Czech fighter jets were dispatched to intercept the plane and were able to communicate with the captain. The captain signaled about having technical issues due to which they were unable to communicate with the ATC.

The fighter jets from Germany, Belgium, and United Kingdom subsequently took over in their respective airspaces and escorted the plane until it safely landed at Heathrow airport.

There were 231 passengers and 18 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

British Airways Jet Rejects Take Off after Engine Ingests Bird

British Airways Flight Returns to London Heathrow

British airwaysBritish Airways Flight 103 from London Heathrow airport, United Kingdom, to Calgary, Canada, had to return and make an emergency landing on the evening of August 12.

Smoke was discovered in the cockpit of the Boeing 767 while it was flying over Liverpool. The pilot requested an emergency landing which was immediately granted.

According to a British Airways spokesperson Michele Kropt, “It [the plane] landed safely and all passengers disembarked as normal.”

She confirmed that the engineers were inspecting the aircraft to determine the cause of smoke.

Pilot Dies after a Microlight Aircraft Crashed at Caernarfon Airport

microlightA Microlight aircraft crashed on the runway at Caernarfon Airport in Snowdonia, North Wales, United Kingdom.

The accident happened at about 6pm on May 15. According to a North Wales Police spokesperson, “A 55-year-old male – thought to be inside the aircraft at the time of the collision – was taken to hospital with serious injuries and was sadly later pronounced dead.”

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB).

Fumes in Cockpit Force KLM’s Flight to Land in Emergency

KLMA KLM Airline Boeing 737 had to make an emergency landing at Norwich International Airport, Norfolk, United Kingdom, at about 2:37 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.

A KLM spokesperson confirmed that the plane en route from Manchester to Amsterdam landed in emergency after fumes were discovered in the cockpit.

Full emergency protocol was deployed at the airport when the plane carrying 114 passengers touched down. All the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.

The aircraft was taken for examination and repair.
