Wizz Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Liverpool

Wizz Air flight W6-1011 made an emergency landing in Liverpool, England, on September 7th.

The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Katowice, Poland, was on final approach to Liverpool when the crew requested emergency assistance, reporting that a smartphone in the cabin had started emitting smoke.

The crew secured the phone while the plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

Spring Airlines Flight Diverts to Shenyang, China

Spring Airlines flight 9C-8617 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Shenyang, China, on February 18th.

The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Harbin, China, to Nagoya, Japan, was diverted after a smartphone and a power bank caught fire in the overhead locker.

The crew had cooled down the items before the plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Turkish Airlines Plane Diverts to Serbia due to Un-Attended Smartphone

Turkish airlinesTurkish Airlines flight TK-1979 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Belgrade, Serbia, on May 26th.

The Boeing 777-300, en-route from Istanbul, Turkey, to London, England, was diverted after the crew found an un-attended smartphone.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were 300 passengers and 15 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

The plane was thoroughly checked for any other suspicious material.

BA Flight Diverts to Siberia due to Smoking Smartphone

britishairwaysBritish Airways flight BA18 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Irkutsk city of Siberia, Russia, on August 21.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, en-route from South Korea’s Incheon International Airport to London’s Heathrow airport, was diverted after a passengers’ smartphone began emitting smoke due to a ‘thermal runaway’.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were 205 passengers aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

The plane was able to resume its journey after 3 hours.
