Providence-Bound Southwest Airlines Plane Suffers Lightning Strike

Southwest Airlines flight WN-1498 suffered a lightning strike near Providence, Rhode Island, on February 15th.

The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was descending toward Providence.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at JFK Airport

United Airlines flight UA-4697 made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on August 7th.

The plane heading from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, to Providence, Rhode Island, was diverted due to smoke in the cabin.

The plane landed safely. There were fifty-three people aboard at the time; three of them were examined by emergency teams at the airport.

Delta Airlines Plane Rejects Takeoff due to Engine Failure

Delta Airlines flight DL-2225 had to reject takeoff from Providence, Rhode Island, on April 17th.

The plane was accelerating to take off for Atlanta, Georgia, when the crew rejected takeoff due to an engine failure.

The plane stopped safely.

No injuries were reported.

United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Providence

United Airlines flight UA-4818 made an emergency landing in Providence, Rhode Island, on March 25th.

The plane flying from Chicago, Illinois, was on approach to Providence when the crew reported an issue with the nose gear.

The plane landed safely and stopped on the runway.

All fifty-three people aboard remained unharmed.

ABX Air flight GB-3907 made an emergency landing in Providence, Rhode Island, on December 28th.

The Boeing 767-200 freighter plane flying from Chicago Rockford International Airport, Illinois, was descending toward Providence when the crew reported an engine issue.

The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Allegiant Air plane Diverts to Rhode Island due to Smell of Smoke

AllegiantAllegiant Air flight G4-736 had to divert and make an emergency landing at T. F. Green Airport in Providence, Kent County, Rhode Island, on December 30.

The McDonnell Douglas MD-83, flying from Orlando, Florida, to Bangor, Maine, had to divert due to smell of smoke.

The aircraft received minor damage due to heat.

All 120 people aboard remained safe.

Forced Landing in Single-engine Piper

What: single-engine four-seat Piper registered to Tri Radial Flyers, of Tiverton en route from T.F. Green Airport to New Hampshire
Where: crashed into some trees at the edge of the Schofield Farm. Rhode Island
When: about 8:30 am Sept 1
Who: pilot Barry Carroll, 58 was uninjured
Why: The plane experienced engine problems at 7,500 feet and the pilot could not make it the five miles back to the airport, so made a forced landing in the Schofield Farm field. On landing the plane’s left wing tip broke off.
